That's a cool cpu if you get it on the cheap. I think tigerdirect has some lower end phenom x64's for dirt cheap. I have an athlon ii x4 and it's more powerful than this surprisingly, given the lack of L3 cache and the same amount of L2 and L1 i believe.

@MotoHarmer It depends what type of Phenom you have. Is it the first or second Gen. phenom line up. Also which Phenom is it. 955, 965, etc?? If you have the 1st gen phenom they had problems. Although I myself owned a 1st gen phenom and it worked excellent in every way. However a Phenom 965 black edition 3.4 ghz quad core beast can be had for only $150. I now have a 965 and it is a BEAST. WAY WAY FASTER than my 1st gen phenom.

IMO: This video jumps from very simple to very complex too quickly. Anyone who needs to be told how to line up the arrows shouldn't be overclocking just yet, and anyone who's overclocking should definitely know how to set a cpu.

Also: I never herd a disclaimer about how overclocking (without doing some homework first) can damage this cpu 'given' to you by AMD.

Side note: it is probably best you give thermal grease a few days to set before running any stress tests (heat transfer efficiency).

I have the 3.4Ghz Phenom Quad core and the cheesy clamp system warped my board and didn't allow it to start properly. I had to loosen the clamps on it and its running fine now. Good job! You may want to wear an anti-static wrist band to eliminate ESD.  Maybe you are and I can't see it. I agree the cooler is pretty good and is able to overclock, but I used a Zalman with Arctic Silver and got to 32 with the same overclock ratios you did. Good video!

wow how'd you get 3.4 Ghz?!!? Mine maxes at 3.2 which, maybe i just got a lesser capable one? Either way i'm not very happy w/ my 9950. Through no fault of my own C'n'Q completely stopped working and no longer up clocks my processor to 2.6Ghz from the idle state of 1.3Ghz, so now i had to turn C'n'q off and my room gets sooooo hot.
