i luuuuuuv speckled sussexes! they're my fav breed cuz their personalities, their coloring, and their winter hardiness. Lucy seems to have quite the character! She is so funny!
I love Speckled Sussexes too! Heh, yes, Lucy is bursting with personality (she has enough for 2 chickens!). She is my best bug catcher. Whenever I discover a yucky roach or unwanted bug in the house, we immediately fetch her from the coop and bring her in to dispatch the critter, which she does with gusto :D
I give mine a variety of food in their bowl each day. Scratch, layer crumbles, cat food, white millet and raw pealed sunflower seeds. They are all indoor pets and spoiled rotten. They also love corn, peas, cut up grapes and eggs. I love the funny end in your video. LOL
Hehe, yes, I know - that's Myrtle, my cochin. Good idea about the banana. That's something I've never offered them before. I can't wait to test it out on them. My chickens are strangely finicky though - I can't understand it. They have a real fondness for arugula but at $3.99 a package that's quite an expensive indulgence. They also are crazy about canned cat food which is bizarre. I try to never let them eat any that has poultry in it cause that would be just a little too cannibalistic . . .
I know. I think that was the scratch they didn't like though - that stale stuff. They would prefer I offer them arugula greens, fresh corn, pumpkin or fish-flavored canned cat food. Oh, how spoiled they are.

cat food is not very good for them, but it is ok..the reason is that they are naturally herbavores other than bugs...
