The problem is slavery and people worship it. Businesses should be owned by the people who work there with no investors or any other masters and corporations should be banned. This could be the first free country if people are willing to stop being a slave. I find it funny that people came to America to escape tyranny only to cause their own.
It's not capitalism, mate. Everything you say is right. All I'm trying to show you is how this situation came about. The problem I have with OWS is that there are many who don't understand what they're doing. If you get a chance, watch a video by Adam Kokesh where he interviews protestors in Washington. It's embarrassing to watch, especially the female Harvard student who, when Adam breaks it down for her (like I did for you) replied, 'I don't think I want to talk any more'. Embarrassing.
Capitalism isn't the problem, mate. It's the Federal Reserve. It's the monopoly on power. I feel for the protesters, I just wonder if they realize the insanity of asking the government to change. It's like asking the guy who cut your left hand off to cut the left one off too, because you didn't do it right the first time. Those that run the government made sure early on to monopolize their power by bribing them. They aren't capitalist. Wrong 'ism'. Try fascism or socialism.
@anafael1 No. The problem is the growing gap between rich and poor. And the problem is greedy rich people who *continue* perpetuating a monstrous lie: that giving tax cuts to millionaires somehow helps the poor & middle class. Sorry, the people won't be buying that BULLSHIT anymore. The results of the disastrous Bush & Obama tax cuts are quite clear. Look how many wonderful JOBS were created as a result of those glorious tax cuts! Newsflash: Tax cuts don't grow the economy, they grow the debt.
Why don't people just ditch the banks? It is beyond me how people can protest something that they are completely dependent on. Wouldn't the most effective way to handle this be to stop using banks? Or if you must use one to cash a check, keep it minimally funded and go local only..Elections can no longer save us. Pull out of your so-called investments.

Agreed, but I am not fooled by the party line. BOTH parties have sold their souls for money, using us all. Mentioning parties in this fight is a major distraction. We need to hold them all accountable. Study the relationship with corporations / banks of the Globalist Politicians...they come from both parties. You are participating in the lie, by targeting one party. WE must stop that madness now. Stand for the constitution because in simple language it's for the people to protect the people.
Most Americans dont relize that WE ARE NOT POOR!!! WE ARE STILL the richest country of the world!!!, but the government gives our money away so other countrys wont hurt us,WE have to MAN UP!!! and CUT OFF any outgoing money untill we get ourselves out of this mess!!!
i disagree on some points. this is not about republicans. the op was started to get corporate money out of government. money is the god of the powerful as the powerful have real assets and position of power. the reason why the media isnt covering like it should be is because the same corporate money that is in government/politicians is the same money behind MSM.
@zehnsechz The tea party was hijacked by Neo-Cons, then when the Coffee Party was created, Obama's Followers hijacked that and now they are trying to take over #OccupyWallStreet. I heard a woman protestor on MSM thanking Obama for occupy wall street.
Capitalism isn't the problem. Government and central planning is the problem. Please get it right. What's the alternative to capitalism? It's not an option in the USA!
@cooperbry Saying government is the problem is like saying guns are a problem. The machine itself isn't inherently evil. You seem to think I advocate getting rid of capitalism; I don't. FYI: there are good socialists and there are bad socialists. Likewise, there are good capitalists and there are bad capitalists. Failure to acknowledge that is a failure to acknowledge reality.
@JonPaulPrime Not sure I agree with that assessment. When government involves itself in the policies, regulations and influence that drive economic activity, they are indeed the problem. Had capitalism been left to work on it's own, the banks that received bailouts would have failed. During that failure, capitalism would have cleansed the system of the evils that the banks participated in. Instead, the government rewarded that failure and perpetuated the evil. Point correctly please.
@JonPaulPrime I think we all need to dig deeper and think harder about what's happened and decide how much government involvement we want in our lives. It is indeed government's fault what's gone on. It was government policy that everyone should own a house (whether they could afford it or not) that caused Fannie and Freddie to give out money to ill qualified borrowers. It was government that repealed the Glass-Steagall act that allowed banks and brokerages to merge.

@JonPaulPrime It was the Federal Reserve pegging interest rates at historic low levels after the dot com bubble that caused investors to flock to Real Estate. Practically all things that went wrong can be traced back to a government policy, influence or regulation. That's unacceptable to me!
Everything you say is true. But what do you think protesting like this is actually going to accomplish. i fear it will just be used to bring in martial law, violate people's rights, or at best create the illusion of change with what will end up being nothing more than a communist system. Hate to be cynical, but that's what I think right now.
@thetruthergirls I feel cynical about some aspects of it too, but I also feel what's happening is really a beautiful thing. The fact that the people can actually DO this, without being met by bayonets (pepper spray notwithstanding), is somewhat reassuring isn't it? And the fact that people are getting involved gives me hope too. It tells me we haven't *completely* degenerated into a nation full of apathetic slack-jawed zombies just yet.
the really annoying thing is your point about the fact that we could bail people out of their mortgage problems, which would also have helped the banks... but we'd rather just help the people that screwed up the banks.
some of the protesters say that there is actually a lot of support from the financial industry workers, most of whom are cogs and don't benefit from a lot of these perks themselves (not directly) that know we currently court disaster.
@pyrrho314 whoa, whoa, whoa... your remark requires clarification: "the really annoying thing is your point about the fact that we could bail people out of their mortgage problems, which would also have helped the banks... but we'd rather just help the people that screwed up the banks."
@JonPaulPrime : why bother you put it better in your video, the money could have bailed out people, instead it went into the trough... and I add only that... if they'd helped the people make payments... the payments were going in the trough anyway! what a waste!.
@pyrrho314 Ok I want to respond this comment with extremely aggressive specificity (that would hopefully be cushioned by our friendship) but I'll resist the urge. I doubt a productive exchange would result from me channelling such... RAW knee jerk energy into a comment that would be SO highly charged with righteous indignation that it would BLAST your preconceived notions into a million little pieces contaminated with altruistic radiation (the kind that mutates apathetics into revolutionaries)
@pyrrho314 This is going to sound radical, but I think there should be legislation introduced by some brave lawmaker in Washington to forgive all the debt that is literally CRUSHING so many American families. Get these homes out of foreclosure by MAKING the banks (via congressional initiative) return the deeds and just forgive the loans. Am I a fool to think middle class families facing foreclosure would *appreciate* such legislation? Talk to me, pyrrho.
@JonPaulPrime : you don't have to forgive all the debt. The government could have bought the mortgages and given the people 5 years to start paying again, in which time they could negotiate a new rate. The amount of time could be adjusted. You could even simply forgive their mortgage but the government owns the property. Even if you let them live there the rest of their life for free, it's the governments when they die, and they can't sell what they didn't buy.
those who have criticised occupywallstreet are idiots and masochists. this was a great video. it is vital to the survival of the world that the people of america stand up against the 1% who have fucked their country and in turn the world.

@DiwataMan You make it sound like redistribution of wealth is a bad thing. Oh, sorry, I guess it's only a good thing when we redistribute it to the banks.
@DiwataMan How am I vague? We have the machinery in place -- we can democratically elect lawmakers who will make it much easier to redistribute wealth per the will of the people.

@JonPaulPrime You'll have to go deeper. That's how I like it, deep. So, Congress will do what? Pass legislation tp print up billions of dollars and give it to people who will hopefully pay their home up? That money goes right back to the banks who own the home. Do they just give it right to the banks and tell them to apply it to these people's loans? Since we gave the banks trillions anyway why don't we just pass legislation forcing them to forgive the loans? There's lot's to go over Jon.
@DiwataMan There's a thousand ways to do it.... the health care legislation fight should have demonstrated *that* point quite well, DiwataMan.
