It's about the conflict between whether Northern Ireland (the six counties) should be part of the Republic Of Ireland - which it was before 1922, or part of the United Kingdom, which it has been since 1922. The issue has never really been settled with lots of violence in the area. In my opinion it's a great example of how we (Britain) fucked another country up like we did with countless others from our "Empire".

Delores is exceedingly intelligent. I'm British, and I know this song is condemning the IRA (and rightly so). However, it makes any right-thinking person THINK about the atrocities that the Irish have had to suffer under the British. It's about time the British people took our so-called "leaders" to task for their foreign policy. Since I was 13 we have pretty much been at war with someone the entire time: Falklands, Gulf War, Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq. What's next, Iran? STOP THE WARS!!!

It's about the conflict between whether Northern Ireland (the six counties) should be part of the Republic Of Ireland - which it was before 1922, or part of the United Kingdom, which it has been since 1922. The issue has never really been settled with lots of violence in the area. In my opinion it's a great example of how we (Britain) fucked another country up like we did with countless others from our "Empire".
