The moment that the federal government protects marriage for more than one sexuality, then sexuality is protected. The reason the Bible doesn't say anything against gay marriage is because it's already been labeled an abomination. We would consider incestuous relations an abomination today, so we would never consider an incestuous couple for legal marriage. If it does go to the supreme court, hopefully the freedom of religion will prevail. Please understand that if the supreme court does rule in favor of homosexual marriage, the freedom of religion will be restricted.

Take religion out of the equation for just a moment and realize that the marital union has a socioeconomic impact all its own. The right for a same sex union to be recognized by governmental bodies is important for cases of custody of children, the right to adopt, and the ability to provide insurance protection for the loved ones of the party in question.
From what I read of the Bible, all condemnation of homosexuality is limited to the Old Testament, as was the sanctioning of slavery.

Love does not constitute marriage either. If this were so, we would have to allow incestuous couple who love each other to get married as well. It falls under the same principle. If we are honest with ourselves intellectually, we should protect the sanctity of marriage. A civil union hurts no one, and we don't need an extra amendment for it.

You can't make sexuality equal because sexuality is not equal. Some sexuality is criminal. While homosexuality is not, it cant be compared to the equal protections of races or genders!

Somehow religion is related to the marriage issue and marriage is related to the secular state under law and the secular state allows other things that many consider vices... Something doesn't add up in order to even make a coherent argument. When abortion is ok is a debate, this one isn't.

1. 1 in every 52 Hispanics/Latinos will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime in the USA
2. around 20 percent were infected with HIV through injecting drug use
3. Yes around 40% of those infected with Hiv and Aids were men and teens who are male and sleep with males. USA has the highest amount of ppl living with HIV and Aids within english speaking nations.

@Blahb27 This post is completely wrong. Marriage was "invented" in churches. It was a way to create the best family unit, and was sanctioned by every major religion. The state part came later. Since marriage has been defined as 1 man/ 1 woman for over 4000 years, any attempt to change it is actually illegal from the bible, Magna Carta, English common law, Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. Why not just change the definition of rape so gay deviants can molest more kids.
