One thing Marines absolutely cannot stand are people who are NOT Marines bragging about how much more badass or better Marines are to other branches; Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and Coast Guardsmen all duck the same shots and fight the same wars. @FutureEnlistedMarine pt2. if you fail at any of those, they will likely put you in PCP also known as Pork Chop Platoon and you'll stay in that platoon until you can pass the minimum standards, then you will get sent to your actual platoon. No I wasn't PCP - but the SDI told us about them. Remember...first 4-5 weeks are the hardest (with the exception of the crucible which is week 12) . Week 13 is when you do nothing but practice for graduation, which is a LOT of marching...
@FutureEnlistedMarine As a former Marine, here is what you can expect. You are going to literally do everything by the numbers, especially in phase 1- at that point is the hardest for you mentally - you make it past phase 1 and the other phases are somewhat gravy in comparison. Because your body by then is more used to the punishment that the DI's are going to inflict on you physically and mentally. Make sure you can run 3 miles, do crunches, and atleast 3 pull-ups.

My father will always be my hero. He was a small man, 5'7", but trained at Parris Island at 17 yrs. old and shipped over to the Pacific and fought like a man that was 12' tall. And the best part of it was, that he fought with his Buddies for what he believed to be right. I love my Dad. He's gone now, but I sure love my Dad. While the Marines have been kicking ass since 1775 and do train harder than the Army. the Army at one point wasn't lazy cause they fought in WW1 WW2 Korea and Vietnam side by side with the marines then something happened and they got lazy

@FutureEnlistedMarine pt2. if you fail at any of those, they will likely put you in PCP also known as Pork Chop Platoon and you'll stay in that platoon until you can pass the minimum standards, then you will get sent to your actual platoon. No I wasn't PCP - but the SDI told us about them. Remember...first 4-5 weeks are the hardest (with the exception of the crucible which is week 12) . Week 13 is when you do nothing but practice for graduation, which is a LOT of marching...

@FutureEnlistedMarine As a former Marine, here is what you can expect. You are going to literally do everything by the numbers, especially in phase 1- at that point is the hardest for you mentally - you make it past phase 1 and the other phases are somewhat gravy in comparison. Because your body by then is more used to the punishment that the DI's are going to inflict on you physically and mentally. Make sure you can run 3 miles, do crunches, and atleast 3 pull-ups.

The RECON Marines and the Navy SEALS are the same thing! They have similar training. The marines are always first into battle,but when they need someone quick,they call in the Navy SEALS. Like when they took out Bin Laden. The SEALS base was closer.If the Marine Corps base was closer they would have called in the RECON marines.

My father will always be my hero. He was a small man, 5'7", but trained at Parris Island at 17 yrs. old and shipped over to the Pacific and fought like a man that was 12' tall. And the best part of it was, that he fought with his Buddies for what he believed to be right. I love my Dad. He's gone now, but I sure love my Dad. And he was really proud of Parris Island, although he hated it when he was going though it .... just like a USN SEAL hates Coronado.

@gunny426plymouth yeah. When i did rotc i had a SFC as an instructor and every time i said something to do with the corps he would always say," they're just a department of the navy." That's true, we're the MENS department of the navy! and it's been that way since Nov. 10 1775.

I'm sure an MCRD DI Would love to get his hands on you. The Marines would never merge with the army for many reasons because look at the facts, Marines NEVER will be called soldiers. Now, The Marine Corps hymn is absolutely THE best military song ever.
