How can I strengthen the catapult? It doesn't work for me when I fire my osmium cannon balls. They are just little one inch balls and it just won't fire with enough strength and it lacks structural integrity. What's going wrong? And for further info it isn't pure osmium, that's too toxic, It's an osmium core lined with a thin amount of steel.
@epicfantasy Actually such a catapult like yours might not work so well. The said weights would be almost half a pound each because Osmium is the densest element we know of. Yes a 1 inch diameter ball would be half a pound. I'd fear a real sized cannonball made of Osmium if it could be driven to cannonball speeds. Assuming it doesn't shatter midflight on impact you'd have gargantuan chunks flying about. A cup of the stuff is 11.78 pounds.
A cannonball made of the stuff would weigh 127 lb compared to 42 of an iron ball. Assuming that doesn't shatter from wind resistance because its so hard it may well shatter on impact like a grenade I'd imagine. spewing heavy toxic chunks. So if the catapult can fire osmium well it is probably too dangerous to use as a toy.
@XBalmoX Maybe some of it, but the swing arm and upright arm of the catapult might bend under the pressure of the rubber band. So, maybe you can find another material for these, the handles of plastic spoons might work.
Glue small shelves behind each window to stand toy soldiers. If needed, trim the soldier's base so they fall over easily. Shelves can also be added behind the battlements. Two castles and you can go to war.
No toy soldiers? Make your own - draw a soldier, cut around it and glue on a base. These fall easier.
Packing peanuts cut in half make good missiles.
Instead of making a cup - a bottle top from a large bottle can work well.
