  • @99RedBalons America may have done some terrible things in war, but so have our enemies! War is terrible. Does that mean that every country is evil? There isn't a country on Earth that doesn't take part in wars.

  • looks like this video get hated on by alot of nationailst redneck who proclames that they have been to war, when what they call war is a slaughter of people so that thier goverment can get oil and proclaime another country for thier sick empire. the slaughter should stop. and to all the red necks hating on the peace loveres all i have to say to you is you shall never crush the peopel, we will rise, we will strike back when hit, and you might crush our bodys but you will never crush our spirits

  • Dear bingobangledangle: Your 4 tours killing people in Iraq are contemptible.

  • This is the kind of music that really grows on me. If anyone knows where to find the lyrics, please tell me.

  • one guy said no nations, screw that, Long live America!!!

  • As an infantryman that has completed two tours in the middle east, this man makes us soldiers and all we care about out to be a spectacle. What does he know anyway? Sad display.

  • song is great, but i can't find lyrics anywhere, could you post this lyrics?

  • In the middle of the cold winter, on the street in front of the Federal Building, I was there (rosehill.net) ooin.jpg This video is still Jim's best performance of this song online. It's based on a 100 years-ago Irish song, just sung Wed. June3,2010 by the Seattle Labor Chorus, I will upload tonight, search for "Collateral Repair Project". It will be there.

  • "They're taking your little brother now.." is so chilling

  • No Nations.

  • All 'war' songs either are at the start or soon become 'antiwar' songs.

  • @vinegaroon1 This song however always was an anti-war song, sung by the Irish who didnt want to fight for the British.

  • @grato It spured out of Johnny I hardly knew ye.

  • PURE GENIOUSSNESS!!!

  • why they call themselves americans? why they call the U.S. America? they should find a name to call themselves: Mexico=mexicans,Argentina=argentinians,Peru=peruvians,Bolivia=bolivians,United States=??? America is the whole continent, from Canada to Tierra del Fuego,so basically we are all together Americans...not just them, the so called "americans"...a mexican is an american,an argentinian is an american, a peruvian is an american, a bolivian is an american, all american citizens...

  • yeah i know...

that is why i just say I'm from the U.S.

    we are all Americans

  • At this point, I tell people I'm from Canada.

  • @ExUSSailor Jim page himself said, "Love your country and the people around you." Don't leave it, take a stand and try to change it.

  • yes mexico= mexicans ect. but when the name of your country is The United States Of America what the fuck are we supposed to call ourselfs. the other countrys have their own names because there not named after the god damned continent

  • yeah , im from Canada and i even know where ur comin from, when i hear the term "American" i usually think of someone from the US, it would be kinna gay if u had to say "im a united states of american" lol

  • @abisail

    How bout.... fat? ;D

    jk

  • he songs "when johnny comes marching home again" on an antiwar march???

he should play "johnny i hardly knew ye"

  • yeah i thought the same thing....a little contradicting what hes singing

  • He sings the American confederate song not the irish version.

  • Just FABULOUS. Perfect rendition, I vastly admire your talent. The naysayers posting negative comments, have no experience and very little brains. Doubt they have ever had to put a close friend in a body bag. Doubt they have any inkling of the causes, and more importantly, the effect of the civil war.

Hats off to you, and thank you for the message.

  • How about this view then: the politicians are full of shit and a lot of powerfull assholes abuse their power and it's the little guy that pays for it. In war it's the soldiers and the civilians that pays. I vote for mutiny.

  • Well america not the us is more polictically correct sayin the 13 southern states never signed a treaty or was never readmitted into the United States but is still technically still under military rule. I am an american. I fight for freedom cause i myself am in the service. Let this dude talk about what he wants. Thats what makes america so great. Diversity and yet unity. Love and hate.

  • u stole the words out of my mouth brother :)

  • America is a contintent divided into north, middle, and south. The US is the country. Youre an American, but technically so are those from Canada, Brazil, Mexico and so on.

  • Awesome stuff mate! I'm really impressed and the words say so much.

  • He has a right to rewrite this song, but I really do hate when people take a crap on a beautiful old song like this one. I do know the history of the song too so don't give me a whole speech on the original being anti-war. I'm just saying that I don't like his version.

  • actually no one knows if the original was the anti-war(Irish version) or Pro-Soldier(American written) one but the tune has been around for much longer than the lyrics. But I do agree there was no need to change the words to a degree that it spits on the original(by the original i mean the one he mentioned before beginning)

  • actually the version that is widely considered pro-solider/war is actually anti war if you read the time and octave if played at the right tone and speed it sounds as if the peaple where going to forget about the solider after the parade depending on your interpretation

  • Thank you.

  • Brilliant words. I wonder how long it will be before people listen to them?

  • Me too.

  • i agree with davidmckibben.

'fighting a war we can't win, cus theres no enemy, the real terrorist is america'.

im not american, so i can't really say much, but i agree with this.

  • I agree too...

  • ya america sucks right now, and im an american, but we got hotdogs hamgurgers french fries and fireworks....wait all of those arent really american....hm, we really do suck

  • No, hamgurgers are definately not American. Whatever the hell those are. Great song. =)

  • Well really you mean USA not america, because America is a continent :)

  • how can someone win if winning means that someone loses? love that quote by scatman, calling names won't help anyone, DO something

send letters, aid, come here and protest w/e you can to help

  • @99RedBalons Not sure what David said, though I would like to disagree with the who is terrorist. I'm an American, and I do not go terrorizing people or condone groups that do. I do believe that if we need to point fingers we should start at the main stream media and work our way up. That is where most misconception and manipulation begins. I do agree with fighting a war we can't win. . .

  • 3:00-3:16

    Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!

  • 5/5

  • I have mixed feelings about this. As a marine I am in a rage, but when I look at it from the publics perspective I can agree with the mood to an extent. I remember the months after Sept. 11th and how the public demanded action. The price of action is war, and the price of war is blood. Their is no action without concequence. I have been on 4 tours to Iraq, we marines would like to stop the terrorists there rather than do nothing and something happen like Sept.11th happen again.

  • hey man the first instinc should be peace not instant war i'm not saying that 9-11 was not a horrible instance my uncle died in that incident

and my other uncvle on my dad side went for 4 tours in vietnam as spec-ops and he said to me tha iraq is just like vietnam minus the jungle we arre fiighting a war we can't win because there is no real enemy we learned this fighting the seminoles and the apaches in america and also in vietnam and the biggest terrorists are in america

  • there never was a single terrorist in iraq

    till americans joined in

    us-gov knew about it

the rest of thinking is up to you

  • terorism is generted by war and traumas. You did not go to Iraq to fight terrorism, the baath regim of Iraq was quite anti-islamistic and it was NO terrorists there before the invasion.

  • "Their is no action without concequence"

    newton's third law

  • Dude it goes "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

  • Your right.

  • @bingobangledangle Yes but Iraq an Afghanistan have NOTHING to do with Saudi Arabian and Egyptian nationals driving planes into the WTC. The Bush administration used the fear and shock to lunch wars of exploitation and conquest. I feel for the American soldier for once you're in the service you can't help it, but many don't know why they are there, or stop to think about it, because you're taught to Defend America. Thanks for hearing my two cents.

  • @bingobangledangle

I don't think that Iraq have something to do with Sept 11th ...

  • @bingobangledangle - sorry bud but just look at the terrorism america has been responsable for......there has been 0ne million civilians mrdered by american and brit bomds in Iraq..for what? you do know that it was your CIA which armed and trained the taliban in the 80's? it's just karma coming back to bite yo in the ass, the way to stop ftre attacks on americans, very simple, stop interfaring in other peoples countries then we can stop all the killings, peace.

  • @bingobangledangle Bin Laden didn't take down that 3rd building (or any of them, for that matter) check out veterans for peace WTC7 video on youtube

  • plx, can somenoe post lyrancs, im not great enligh speaker and its hard to hear this plxplz plz someone post lrycs, i rely like this song but im not racist like the old south...

  • Bravo, great lyrics. I found this gem by pure chance, while looking for David Rovics singing his When Johnnie came marching home, also five stars.

  • Jim is definitely one of the best troubadors of our day.

  • Can someone please post the lyrics?

  • Thanks Jim Page. This is one of your best. You speak for me. You speak for many.

  • This is just a fantastic song, just wish it was done a little slower. Thank you for this. It needs to get viewed more.
