I worked there as a contractor for five years in the mid eighties - saw the first job!. Hardest job in my life but it made me. I now live in Ireland where even Nationalists and Unionists now all love each other so why all this dated Mackem/Geordie nonsense. The north east of England is on of the greatest, prettiest most friendly places on earth (I'm a Londoner) - grow up boys and exploit your strengths. Nissan is in Washington not Sunderland. It has a NE post code no SR. It's on cherry blossom way in Washington.

@SuperBoo86 If your gonna be pedantic Washington is a part of Sunderland. It is a town in the city of Sunderland, and the plant is in Sunderland. Before being Nissan it was Sunderland Airfield (RAF Usworth).

Also there are lots of places with different postcodes to where they are situated, Houghton being the dodgy one being under the Sunderland Council as a Sunderland town whilst still having a Durham postcode.

Even NMGB got embarrased and annoyed. They had NMUK employees in a right panic during investigations- NMUK staff desperately trying to gain photocopies of log books from people they couldnt remember selling numbers to. It was hilarious. Then to cap it all off, NMGB in response, reduced the discount scheme further - even the level 1 discount! Lets face it, if you didn't have Qashqai, you'd have nowt !

The same employees were then going round strangers houses at 2am grabbing log books to photocopy in trying to prove so called friends and so called brother in laws. Your fellow bent NMUK friends were classing their numbers as their annual holiday fund ! Why were so many Navaras shifted back in 2006 ?

The misuse got well out of hand with every man and his dog buying numbers and pretending to be retail, fucking me about, gaining the offers and PX value then smugly putting his NMUK bought number on the table. You had guys paying £400 for an employee number to save £4500 on an Xtrail. That times 5 numbers = £2000 trousered ! Visited the dealers and pretended you were retail only to lay your number on the table at the last minute. Working North of the Tyne, my day was wasted cos of you guys and a number of my colleagues were out of a job cos of no retail profit . . . all employee sales with no profit. These NMUK guys make me laugh . . . Crying about being laid off. Wasn't so long ago that some of them damaged cars in protest at being made to work overtime. NMUK guys are greedy and care about themselves and no one else - even to the point of selling their employee numbers off to "so called" brother in laws to cheat the car discount system. Well it's all gone now as well as half your profit starved dealer network . . . all gone. You should take a hard look at yourselves !

Well i've just gone in for my night shift tonight only to be told that we are being laid off until Monday. Line 1 at Nissan is supposed to back up and running on Monday 15th. Line 1 will cease production on the 19th December, when everyone will be laid off again for 2 days.
