  • so yeah -- coyotesandwolves.bandcamp.com

  • Long Live Mogis!

  • m ward really noobed himself lol

  • Did they intend to do that call and respond at the end or did M. Ward just mess up that bad? I genuinely hope it's the latter :D

  • I love Mike in this, but then again, I just love Mike.

  • not down with this version. was perfect as it was.

  • I am pretty sure that i will never ever see anything cooler then what i just. i want this rendition to play inside my head for the rest of my life :)

  • I'm not going to lie, I think this version is terrible. It loses the rawness and sensitivity of the original. Too upbeat to be melancholy, and the switching vocals only makes the song lose the feeling of a confession of emotions. The only decent part in this song is the verse about his brother.

  • I don't like this version at all... I like all of these musicians very much though...

  • @Diablo112687 right they dressed it up way too much.

  • yes mike mogis!

  • >.> learn the song man

    it's amazing

  • M WARD RUINED CONOR OBERST

  • @mkoscienski1 I don't disagree, however, what do you mean?

  • M WARD RUINED CONOR OBERST

  • @mkoscienski1 how?

  • god this is so much cooler/better than the album version

  • Hell ya

  • I'm so happy I found this! One of my favorite Bright Eyes songs and this makes it even better<3

  • lol i was like whao conors voice is changing! then i realized it wasnt hi singing.

  • m ward and conor and mogis are great together... i wish jim james wasnt there =\

  • jim james is amazing. wtf? all of them are great musicians. i saw monsters of folk, and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. i really got a feel of how much all of them love music and how great of friends they are, and it wouldn't have been as awesome minus mr. james.

  • i saw MOF also, n i have the album, i just know whenever he'd have a long solo song id go to the bathroom. or on the CD when its his song i skip it, i just dont like him haha. sorry.

  • @devonkb which one is jim james? and btw im obsessed with this song right now! especially this version haha

    -Calum

  • @johnmorisi8 which is jim james? :) and why would it be better without him?

also which one is mogis haha?

    -Calum

  • @bboy10g

jim james in MOF and his band is my morning jacket, i dont think the music he writes really fits with m ward and bright eyes... mogis is the balding guy who produces bright eyes' albums and plays multiple instruments, he doesnt do vocals though in MOF though. and devonk does have a good point, it wouldnt be MOF without him.... but it would be a better band in my opinion.

  • @johnmorisi8 respect your opinion, but have you heard Jim James voice? I'm sorry but no one in MoF tops it. I like Conor's voice the best, but Jim James has the best voice of the supergroup, and one of the best voices of today.

  • @cmw92ster

I've heard it, it goes really high and he can sustain, but it is very nasally. I know conor's voice is nasally as well, but conor sings with such emotion. If i was to pick the best musically correct voice, I would choose m. ward. Ward can hit the very highs and the very lows, he can sing soft and he can sing loud.

  • This version! Wow, it makes me smile C:

  • same! m.ward is amazing,

  • HE IS!

  • Wooo, Mesa, AZ, lol. It really is where all the green of life had turned to ash.

  • woooo m.ward!

  • This version is wicked

  • Conor + Conor = GREATNESSSSS!

  • i love this song! and i live in winnetka, california! hahhahaha!

  • hah he wrote the first verse of that song when he was 17 at the house of a girl named Stephanie in winnetka,

  • well at least he mentioned my hometown :)

  • this remind anyone of bob dylans highway 61 revisited?

  • This is amazing. M. Ward has the most amazing voice ever.

  • @Floydthefuckbag Apart from Conor

  • this is sooo good! i love m. ward and conor oberst!

  • my voice is no deeper

  • Comment removed

  • so fucking good!!

  • i really like this version of the song,

  • fucking insane! conor oberst and m ward! WOW

  • God, Conor's voice is so much deeper than on letting off the happiness

  • lol it's called PUBERTY

    and cocaine

  • LOL

    Don't forget cigarettes

  • youre fucking gay. since when does cocaine give you a deep voice, noob.

  • it's like inhaling glass into your sinuses you fucking idiot

  • first of all; no it's not, and second of all; what makes you think that inhaling glass gives you a deep voice?

  • first of all, yes it is and back in school we were taught about the gamot of effects from drug abuse. I've seen a plethora of folks with chronic nasopharyngeal infections and literal skin rot from inhalation. You stick a tube with a light and camera down someone's nose and have a look about. DO NOT SNORT COKE.

  • ok.. that's cool.

i was not looking for a lesson in biology or morals. just saying, cocaine does not give you a deeper voice.

  • yes it does! you're challenging the wrong guy, i'm telling you. cocaine has a profound effect on every part of your upper respiratory system!

  • thanks for uploading - this is an awesome performance!

  • thats anton on violin right?

i saw judgment day open up for margot not long ago.

    he's a cool guy.

  • M ward is the man guys

  • Original is better.

But this one ain't bad either.

  • M. Ward makes me smile:]

  • i think the original version of june on the west coast was perfect. i like this, but the original is way better.

  • this is fantastic! i can't believe i've never stumbled across this on youtube before. thanks for the upload. i am now going to immediately purchase an m. ward album... it's been too long as it is!

  • Wow, this version is so funky. Matt and Anton are the real stars here.

  • i wish m. ward would record a cover

  • Simply unreal!!!

  • well, since i love the blues, and old country singers.. I am in love with this version. very nice!!!!!!!!

  • ...

the original version is so sweet and simple and raw

    this one is...well i dont know... :/

  • m ward!

  • M Ward for president!

  • i like the original better, but this one is okay.

mike has a bad ass guitar

  • conor commented on one live version before saying this that it was mostly about a friend of his and he "wondered what she was doing right now, probably off doing something in her life out in the world" or something like that i dont quite remember though i still have the video lol

i have mixed feelings about this video but hey its catchy =]

  • I like this version a lot, but I think it lacks the cozy, "guy spills his heart out on guitar" vibe I loved from the original.

  • LOVE IT!!

  • I like it. The first part is hilarious when considering the original. I like that they're having a little fun with it. I think they should've just let Anton sing the whole thing.

  • i dont think mike mogas goes anywhere without that guitar haha

  • ANTON!!! his face when he got off! haha! oh anton.

  • It's beautiful. I love this song so much. Conor is a genius, a mastermind, and one hell of a musician.

I love the extra strings in this version!

  • Oh its a great song, in fact I've posted a version I saw live. I also believe he is a great songwriter, but this was just fucking terrible.

  • Seconded.

  • thirded.

  • fourthed.

  • hooray m ward and conor! i saw them together live in LA it was wonderful

  • I've been searching for this video everywhere, I saw it months ago and loved it, it's such a great version of this song.

Is it available in mp3 anywhere?

  • you can download a sweet little program that extract mp3's from youtube footage.

type "youube to mp3" in google

about a billion of these free (very small and safe)

    programmes exist.

they are useful as you can get the new conor oberst project "the mystic valley band"

as the live recordings are up.

and they will probably never be released.

    x

  • he was trying so hard not to scream. it was kinda funny. <3

  • M. Ward collab fuck yeah!

  • this is such a great version of this song.

but then, the song is so good that it an only get better.

  • lmao poor Anton, no one was quite on the same wave length!!

  • great version of an incredible song! x

  • i remember listening to the orginal of this @ 14. its a nice change that they take such a sad song and turn it into something more upbeat. KUDOS!

  • what an amazing version of this song

  • conor is bright eyes. bright eyes is conor. it can never be changed.

  • It's actually always been more Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis.

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best version yet.

  • this is amazing!!!!

  • anton is a BAMF!

  • M. Ward has a way cool voice hahaha

  • the original version is better for sure. the violin and m. ward ruined the song, i think.

  • what m ward rules he didnt ruin it but the original is better

  • jammmmmmin. love all the strings. and the white man fro and the lyrical loooove. connor so makes me smile... this is prettttty sweet. keep rockin guys.

  • I like this. : ]-

  • i did not enjoy that nearly as much as the original version.

  • thanks alot man, this is great, i love how m ward didnt know the words. awesome.
