My doctor said that pregnant women really aren't supposed to gain much weight until after 20 weeks when we are supposed to take in a few hundred more calories a day.

I'm at almost 19 weeks now and the baby him/herself still weighs only about half a pound (227 g). But, I've gained my weight back from when I was sicker. Yay!

I threw up every day for 8 1/2 months and only gained 5 pounds. He was healthy though, 8 1/2 pounds. This too shall pass. Well there will be a lot of pain and pushing but it will pass.

it's some kind of virus or bacteria or something you can get from cats that causes birth defects. Many people simply get rid of their cat(s) when pregnant, but if you are just careful in handling cat litter with disposable gloves and wash your hand afterwards (or get hubby to do all the litter handling) it's supposed to be no big deal.

One thing I read is that it's more common in outdoor cats. Since mine are inside, there's less of a chance, but I'm still really careful with them.
