I can appreciate that there were Celtic people once there in Spain. However, after many waves of Mediterranean people came, it's Celtic identity was lost as a new Spanish one was created. This is not a bad thing. I must stress that I love Hispanic people and their culture. I was just put off by certain people trying to co-opt something that doesn't belong to them. Spanish people once colonized the United States but I'd never claim bullfighting was ours. That's all I'm trying to say.

ME encanta el norte, soy madrileño de apellidos vascos..pero en todo este romanticismo..alguien se ha parado a pensar que la gaita es un instrumento germano del siglo XII nada emparentado con la tuba celta y que los castros y los megalitos son de los pueblos kalaicos atlanticos y nada tienen que ver con celtas? de hecho son mucho mas antiguos e interesantes! Sabeis que la mayor concentracion de restos celtas de españa esta en extremadura?y es que lo romantico lo aguanta todo pero la historia....

Te equivocas gravemente....lo actual territorio Portugues foi povoado por tribos celtas tanto como fue las Asturias e Galiza....quando hablas de la influencia galega estas misturando politica con historia....cada tribo celta tenia su propria organizacion...non havia unidad celta entre las tribos, por isso non poderia haver "influencias" galegas ate porque las populaciones celtas que habitavan en Galiza en termos etnicos eran las mismas del norte de Portugal....

Temos que defender que Galiza e Asturias som regions irmás, e respetar que os asturianos som asturianos, incluso nas zonas nas que se fala galego, seram asturianos que falam galego entom, ao igual que na regióm de Miranda em Portugal na qual é oficial o mirandés (dialeto do astur-leones). Ha que promover o uso do galego nesas zonas ao igual que fam com o mirandés em Portugal. Galiza e Asturias som irmás, nom a mesma cousa, como tambem somos irmaos de Portugal (ou incluso Brasil).

Deveríam ir à merda todos os que falam antes de países ou naçoes antes que de linguas e culturas. Por que se fala tanto de anexoes e criaçom de estados? Deveriamos luitar por um modelo no que um asturiano puidese dizer que fala galego sem "ser galego" por exemplo. Incentivar o galego nas zonas nas que se fala é algo bom, pero nom se pode falar de anexionar à Galiza. Ehhmm, primero la lengua que hablo en mi casa y la que utilizo a diario es: el gallego. Segundo lo que ati iba dirigido estaba en español (para que entiendas U_U) excepto dos palabras (meu=mío)(neniño=niñito) que utilicé para remarcar la retranca; pero como eres españolista seguramente no sepas lo que es eso.

For the record, I have no problem with Spanish people. I actually like tacos and salsa and all that stuff. I just find it to be personally insulting that you use Celtic heritage as some sort of off-the-rack one-size-fits-all fashion statement. So you like Celtic culture? That's great! What I'm trying to get at is that you won't confuse a group of Irishmen for a group of Spaniards. Irish drink Harp's and toast with: Sláinte. You guys drink tequila and say: Ole! Irish are pale Nordic types. Spaniards (from Spain or Mexico) are olive Mediterranean types. You won't confuse Antonio Banderas with Conan O'Brien! You might confuse Antonio with a Muslim terrorist. I can appreciate that there were Celtic people once there in Spain. However, after many waves of Mediterranean people came, it's Celtic identity was lost as a new Spanish one was created. This is not a bad thing. I must stress that I love Hispanic people and their culture. I was just put off by certain people trying to co-opt something that doesn't belong to them. Spanish people once colonized the United States but I'd never claim bullfighting was ours. That's all I'm trying to say.

What a joke! Britons, including the Irish, are mixed with Mediterranean types since long ago. How else do you think that you can produce people that look like Catherine Zeta Jones, Rowan Atkinson, John Rhys Davis, Colin Farrell, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Tom Jones, Sean Connery, Andrea Corr, etc.? Those people would not be seen as "exotic" or "foreign" in Spain, yet they are Britons. Don't confuse Mexicans (who are predominantly Mestizo and Indian) with Spaniards.

I'm not even claiming the "Celticness" of each and everyone in Spain. I've only mentioned Asturians and Galicians. I, being myself Andalusian, haven't got any Celtic descent, maybe Celtiberian, but not "Celtic" in the proper sense of the word. So, please, do a little research and get informed about Asturias and Galicia (Youtube videos, Wikipedia...) and when you have done it, let me know it and tell me your opinion.

Asturias and Galicia, in northern Spain, are indeed Celtic lands. If you don't believe it, you can check it very easily. Just go to Wikipedia or any encyclopaedia, or type Asturian bagpipe or Galician bagpipe or in Spanish gaita gallega/asturiana in Youtube. If you really are of Celtic descent and you are proud of it, I recommend you to go and visit north-western Spain, you will like it.

Existe un gran vínculo entre Asturias y Galicia, eso está claro; no obstante en un futuro se tendrá que modificar la contitución para permitir una confederación de CCAA en el noroeste ya que se llevan decádas de malos tratos a esta zona.
