  • i have 2 hedgehogs. and i love them there still kinda young but they seem like there healthy i hope they dont have whs. im sorry that your hedgie died. there adorable little animals.

  • Omg... poor little hedghy. It makes me sad to think about hedghehogs having such a hoeeible disorder :( .

  • this is so sad :((

  • mine died today :(

  • hedgehogs aren't meant to be pets.

  • @MadiRich

    Where's the evidence for that?

  • That usually happens from IN BREEDING hedgehogs...so where ever anyone has had a hedgie with WHS contact the breeder right away

  • @allsurvivor The cause of WHS is unknown. So just because a hedgehog has it doesn't mean that the cause is inbreeding.

  • Poor Hedgie... :,(

  • Oh no, i think my hedgehog has this, I just noticed he is wobbling in a circular motion...

  • :'( mine has it and hes so young, i wish he wasnt sick

  • my hedgehog currently has whs...he's 2.5 years old. i noticed he was thinner a few weeks ago while visiting him (my friend was babysitting him while im in school). i got a call that he had the symptoms, thank God i finished this week at school. the vet says shes sure he has it. its just in the back so far...i hope they find a cure for this =( its heartbreaking.

  • i think my hedghog is showing early signs of WHS he is walking with the left side of his face to the ground and falls over once in while i'm worried he's gonna die :(

  • I'm about to get a hedgehog. I know WHS is a genetic disease, but what is the earliest time they can show signs? I can't seem to find that information. Also, a hedgehog is fine if I'm gone from about 6:30am-3pm, right? I want to make sure he/she would be okay while I was at school.

  • warning sighs there are none i had a healthy hedgehog until a few weeks ago she will be leaving us today :(

  • my 18 month old hedgie just started showing signs. i am sooo upset. i have been crying for days.

  • WHS is a neurological disorder, but not much is really known about it. Unfortunately it does make them more then just wobbly, it eventually progresses to nearly complete to complete paralysis. Cleo, the hedgehog in my video, also became very emaciated in the late stages of WHS, no matter how much she ate, she kept losing weight. Her appetite never left, but her body didn't seem able to gain nourishment from anything I fed her.

  • what does WHS actually do? besides make the hedgehog legs wobbly/weak. does it hurt the hedgehog?

  • I'm very sorry about ur hedgehog. I have just recently gotten one and was wondering what the warning signs for WHS are?

  • Sorry about your hedgie. My hedgehog Alfie had to be put down this year for the same reason. I had to do everything for him for about 4 months but he was worth it.

  • I'm sorry about that. You had a great hedgehog, and I hope you are feeling better :)

  • Poor thing. That is such a horrid disease. I'm really sorry it happened to your baby.

  • That poor, innocent hedgehog. :(
