The americans who want peace should stand and rally for all deserters of the military. I agree with those who resist the war and don't want to kill anyone or be killed. I fought for my country...I put my life on hold for the likes of you to tell me I was wrong. Guess what...the faces I saw when in Saudi, Kuwait and Iraq did not tell me I was wrong. As a soldier I don't have to agree with policy I just have to follow it. What really kills me is that I've known GAY soldiers who signed their contracts knowing the shit they'd get and STRAIGHT pogues who deserted get less time. Pogues make me sick.

All solders understand that one of the most courageous acts anyone in the Armed Forces can complete is to tell an Officer, "No Sir, I wil not". If justified, history has honored those with such courage. Many only have the respect of those they fought with, some have been jailed, some later justified. In 1998 three soldiers were awarded with medals for their intervention in the My Lai Massacre, it took 30 years!

I didn't run to Canada. This video was sent Amy Goodman, the host of the Democracy Now show. So when I got to New York to protest the war she had me on her show. After a long speaking tour she had me on her show again when she found out my family was missing after Hurricane Katrina. I told the viewers I was going back down south to search for my folks and I dared the authorities to come get me.

I didn't run to Canada. I stayed right here in the US. Even tried to turn myself in at Fort Knox. My unit never reported me missing because the military likes to cover up the fact that so many soldiers are refusing orders.

Well there is a difference between a Nazi soldier and an American soldier. An American soldier signed a contract- and is enlisted in effect as a volunteer. The German was dragged from home and pressed into military service.
When a soldier signs the paper he knows what he is getting himself into. Don't want to get involved ? Don't sign.

Today there is no draft in the USA. There was one in WW2 but this deserter signed for the job.
