my grandparents were from Quebec,spoke that frenchie stuff.my dad was from White rock B.C. but ended up marring a California girl and living in San diego California.it really did take a while to learn to understand my dad's mom,she spoke mostly french and my grandfather's french accent was so thick that my dad would end up translating it into valleygirl/guy Californian for us.never did learn to speak french.not sure that it would come in very handy down south of the boarder in the USA?!

i think a lot in far-eastern canada sound like the scottish and irish, but i think most canadians sound about the same as i do. i would have a hard time distinguishing a canadian accent from my own. when i was a kid, i lived around detroit, and i often watched a canadian tv channel that came across the border, and i visited canada sometimes, and it sounded about the same as i did. ironically enough, some of my fellow americans from other parts of the u.s. think i sound kind of canadian.
