This happens a lot online. People will get offended over a word that is said because they feel as if you're saying something one thing and they just don't know what is meant. They don't even take the time to ask for clarification. They jump to conclusions. And this is one major reason why fights occur. Seems as if too many people don't really want to understandd anything.

The idea of having a centralized source where we can see the meanings of words makes it easier for all of us to understand each other. Language is an always changing thing. Dictionaries are only 100% accurate the second they are printed. People change the meanings of words over time. To expect that everyone should understand the same language would mean that the entire world would speak one language, one dialect, etc.

Right. Well I'm not disputing that. You are correct on all points. My thing is that there is a universal language and it is one that we should all know in conjunction to any alternate variations.

I use slang and terms that only have meaning within my circle of friends. When I get around other people I cannot expect them to now our exclusive language. I have to use universal terms if I expect them to now what it is that I am saying. Thats the point of the message.
