St. Iranaeus wrote said that in 190 AD, over a century before the New Testament was compiled. The idea of being born again as it is understood in American Evangelicalism originated with the Puritans actually, and took off in the "Great Revivals" that happened in America in the 18th and 19th centuries

@kevroy1212 So what is your point? There MUST be a supernatural transformation whereby the person's eternal spirit is "activated" or "recreated" or "Born Again"! This happens when Jesus enters into his spirit and becomes one with that person's spirit! Then the light of Jesus can shine through that person to others! Unless a person is Born Again, that person's spirit is like dormant or "dead" to God and anything to do with God, and he has NO connection with or to God PLUS his sins aren't forgiven

@joel10000a The point is that it was basically a made up rule. A modification to your flaky religion. As it is so often done throughout its history. The fact that Christianity is split into hundreds of denominations should be a clear enough sign that Christians are just doing whatever they feel like.

@TekLok No, the reason there are so many different forms of Christianity, is because the devil uses the tactics of divide and conquer, on the churches and denominations, but he will lose in the end, because that's the way the Bible says it will happen! We are indeed in the last of the last days before Jesus comes back! The rapture may happen in the next couple of years!!! Can't you tell the world is coming to the place where everything is more than it can handle??

@TekLok The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will witness to your spirit that you are indeed a Child of God! Most people who call themselves Christian are not Born Again! That's because most churches don't teach it! Jesus, Himself, said right in the Bible that unless a person becomes Born Again, he CANNOT see the Kingdom of God! When you become Born Again, you will get that witness from the Holy Spirit in that you receive peace that passes all understanding! You know that you know that you know!

@BlackstarSirius That's why it was totally necessary for Jesus to come to earth in human form, to set us free from satan's control by shedding His Blood, willingly dying for our sins, and then being resurrected from the dead. This paid off the devil for every person on earth who has ever lived. BUT there is a catch - we MUST believe this and accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, and become Born Again! @rugbyanden God forgives, the devil tortues! Just wait until you get to hell, and you will see REAL torture then!! Don't you know that the devil owns the rights to your eternal spirit from the moment you first sinned as a child, where you were to the point where you knew the difference between right and wrong, but you chose to do wrong anyway? @joel10000a Well according to christian doctrin God is omnipotent and allknowing. Furthermore he has created everything with full knowledge of the consequenses of that creation and the creations future deeds.
So what your saying is that the devil that god created is the source of evil, thus god created evil. You cant accept the christian doctrin and at the same time state that God is good or loving.

@rugbyanden All the Bible tells us is that "iniquity was found in him" (talking about Lucifer who later became Satan). Apparently God did not purposefully create a being that would go bad on Him. Only God knows the exact answer to your question. I trust Him, and His Word (the Bible)! Satan is the master of us ALL from the moment we first sin as a child, when we reach the point in time where we know right from wrong. Our ONLY hope is in Jesus, to save us from hell! @rugbyanden this argument has been circulating for a couple centuries, and so has the counterargument, which states (i'm paraphrasing here) that God created us so that he could love us and that we could love him, but for love to be love it has to be free, if God forced us to love Him it would not be love, and so we have to be free to say no to God in order for our yes to actually mean something. I do know that God is indeed real, and that he indeed does help his Children (true Born Again Christians). God does love all of us, saved and unsaved, and the Bible says that it is God's will that EVERYONE come to Jesus! Are you a Born Again Christian?

try and pray together and pray for your mum to if u believe. but sometimes god lets things happen for a reason, even when we r christians god still lets us go through certain things because thats his way, god has a plan for u and ur mum and he will never leave her, he may be doing things another way. dont give up and always pray because the power of prayer is amazing. godbless u both.

I know what she means about being cleansed by God...I have had multiple sexual abuse growing up..once of which was an Uncle whom tried to rape me twice..I can remember filling dirty..But when Christ found me, I remember power coming on me, it was an incredible feeling of warmth and I remember getting up from saying the same prayer Tina prayed feeling clean..whatever made feel dirty couldnt dwell in me anymore becos Jesus Christ was moving in...God is Real!!!
