i have the 120 and the 75...love em both..120 gave me some trouble but it was hit so hard in shipping it came with a broken cabinet... the 75 works great..alas the sampora 1 pedal doesnt seem to work correct...
@razormusic amen to that bro. I have the Vyper 75 and a vintage 89' ibanez (heavily used througout the years) yet i still get that "holyshit" sound and feel you were talking about
Nice G&L SC-2 (I think) @petrochemicals4u wanted review with single coils- I think the Amp sounded pretty cool with the G&L, tho the pickups are quite hot for single coils
@modelking100 dude i live in a Caribbean island...no bigger than a dot on the world map...if i get the free shipping customs are still gonna rape the living shit outta me when i gets here, and sending it back and forth for free tech repairs not making sensee. Thanks tho.
No problem. And another thing, I wouldn't buy the Vypyr, I had about two of em' take a crap on me, In about three months. To be honest with you, I wouldn't even buy a modeling amp. They're always short circuiting, because of all the modules and wires in it. I'd buy the Peavey bandit 112, or a ValveKing112.
A question for the vypyr 15 owners: ive got a Line 6 PODxt and i want the sound that it produces to run through my Vypyr, but without the Vypyr changing the signal. I already tried putting the reverb/delay/low/mid/high on the Vypyr at zero, but its still not the same. It does feel as if the different amps on the Vypyr (XXX, Brit etc) have something to do with it, but i dont know how i can use the Vypyr as a "No Amp"
I have the Vypyr 30, but it doesnt have the usb port or the power thing next to the master volume, is that only on the tube models or is mine just new or not big enough??
@MyanmesKenny19 the peavey vypyr 15 watt and 30 watt don't have either thing. The 15 watt doesn't even have stompboxes, just effects. If u want to record to a computer you can use the headphone jack, it works the same way as the usb, it just might be hard to find an adaptor for the computer. The power sponge isn't really necessary either, its just A nice thing to have if you want a louder type of sound at bedroom volumes. Hope this explains ur question. I have the same model amp u have.
G'day....still havent seen 'one ' decent review of a Vypyr with a Strat ! Are these no good with single coils like some say ? Any chance of a blues vid/demo with some crunchy/ dreamy, reverby, chorus cleans also ??? I've been lookin for too long now, and just when i thought id made up my mind on the Vypyr 30, I'm having dealers say they dont want to sell me one !... they say 'Too' many have come back... and they wont be stocking them again because of that ! Please Help ...!!!!!
im looking for an unbiased opinion in whether to get this or the line 6 spider IV (30 watt) and why, because ive heard that the line 6 has far greater tone and general sound quality, help a guy out here please :)
@maveguitar i have used the 75 version of both and the spider comes with better preset tones for metal but the vypyr is much better for creating your own tones, i personally think the vypyr is better for cleans and distortion
Should I go for the 30 watt or the 75 watt? I'm mostly play metal and I'm going to use it for home and band practice. Is the 30 watt enough for band practice? Please reply! :D
@CrimzonAE Yes, the 30 watt will be plenty for practicing, and possibly even on stage. I have the 15 watt version, and it really suprised me. BTW, for metal tones, try the Krankenstein setting (K-Stein). and if you want that "up your ass" distortion, add the Tube Screamer....fuckin insane!
Great demo. Displaying the amp model´s name along with the sound would have been of much help though. How is the Brit model? Is the 1st one you stated playing with? I think so. Thanks!
im just wondering, is the vypyr series compatible with the Boss ME-70 pedal? i have the 30 watt vypyr and im looking to get a new pedal. Or is it just worth it to get the sanpera II pedal? and if so where does the pedal board plug into on the amp? Thanks a lot!
@dorianpod77 sorry man i didnt get the boss pedal for the vypyr, but i did order the Sanpera II and recieved it. It works absolutely amazing. I did read about the boss me 70 though with the amp and it should work if you keep the amp on clean, otherwsie i say stick with the Sanpera dude!
Its all about the fucking Rectifier. Highs and lows all the way up, get those mids the fuck outta there and you gotta metal tone that will rape you sideways.
oh and by the way he messes up in his interview when he's going over the amp models, when the dial turns red it means the amps are in overdrive, and it doesn't matter which ones are on the left or right side. green light means clean, red means distortion. it's in the manual.
@ChanielDang I think he meant that the ones on the right side are the more clean type channels rather to the more distorted channels. Like the 6505 setting is a heavy distortion whilst the Plexi setting is softer and not as heavy.
@SamXmasl oh well that makes sense then. he wasnt very clear lol.
i just got this amp myself. it is so damn sweet i think i'll never get another amp until my band gets famous and i just screw it all over for a marshall stack. hahaha
I'm either gonna get the 100 Watt solid state 212 one, or the 60 Watt tube one. I'm not sure yet, I'm just a bit worried about having to replace the tubes every couple of years...
@DeathMetalAngel123 hey.. i never knew that we have to replace the tubes every couple of years. thanks for the info.. By the way, Tube 60 has better tone and distortion rather than the solid state 100 watt212
hey if it gets a boost from the PA definitely. i don't know about how loud it can get stand-alone, however. i'm looking for the answer to that myself.
yep it really is a lot better. i wanted to get a spider 4 and tried it out... wasnt satisfied, i then got a peavey valveking 112 and a friend of mine got the vypyr and it blew my fucking mind
and if i want the peavey vypyr as practise amp and not as amp for the stage or anything... Would it be a good choise? Or should i try a Vox VT? I would rather buy the vypyr because it has many effects and stomp boxes
@RockHailand VERY!! You have a wider range of tones than the Line 6, more effects, and more control over the effects. 24 amp models, compared to the 12 of the Line 6, ranging from the 70's sound of a Plexi, to the modern metal sound of the Krankenstein. Both are about the same price, at least around here. The only thing that the Line 6 has that the Peavey doesn't is the built in artist presets. But I enjoy making my own tones.
Got this yesterday as a practice amp to use at home when I cant use my 100watt tube head--its absolutely the best practice amp you can get; the value is bar none the best. The tone that can be dialed in is top notch and ranges from so many different styles. Without a doubt I was able to coax the same vibe in the 15 watt version as I can in my Carvin head. The articulation isn't quite there, but hey its solid state! Even still, for what it is..it WAY exceeded my expectations.
@Christopherwilder47 yup all the stomp boxes and effects can be bypasses ! i am getting tired of this thing basically i only use 3 models sigh the rest is crap
Barenaked Ladies use it in their song called "Pinch Me". Its the solo near the end of the song, sounds pretty cool too. Look it up on youtube but make sure you get the right version. They don't do it in the live versions.
hahaha finally someone who found a Van Halen sound, thats the first sound i tried to see if this amp can accomplish, the warmth and depth of that of Eddie Van Halen's sound, and it comes pretty close, closer than any other combo modeling amp. The Line 6's phaser is too insane, no warmth
i feel like an idiot asking this. but i have owned this amp for 8 months now and i am ready to sell it. my nephew plays bass and he was wondering if he could play a bass through this. would that be okay, i mean would it blow the speaker?
I just got mine and I was just wondering how i could get it rly distorted? I play mostly Metalcore, Deathcore, Hardcore and Death Metal. :) (So i rly need lots of distortion!)
its a modeling amp it has some of the best amps built into it plus it has the usability of effects etc. so i think u can use it for metallica and slayer btw i used the new line 6 spider 4 but it only has 4 chanells clean crunch metal insane i think you should get a peavy more worth the money
This is far more than a "beginner amp". The amp modeling is so much more organic than any of the Line6 stuff. Plus the way they lay our pre and post effects, and the looper, and the sampera, crap, you dont need anything else for most shows IMO
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you lose alot of the umph! in sound since it's a modelling amp so a roland 30 cube is the one for you if you want that sound, but this is a great amp for beginners specially if they just want to experiment ith clean and distorted sounds and effects other wise get a roland
Would you recommend I buy them off ebay? I heard they break down easily and so it might break down on it's journey to malta. :S Or someone might decide to sell a broken one or something
To you guys who arent sure, theres videos out there demonstrating the Krankenstein (Dimebag) which sound very heavy. It does more than just classic sounding rock. Great character tones on this amp.
i have the 120 and the 75...love em both..120 gave me some trouble but it was hit so hard in shipping it came with a broken cabinet... the 75 works great..alas the sampora 1 pedal doesnt seem to work correct...

I shore wouldnt classify this as a beginners only amp, on the contrary, a seasoned session player can appreciate the versatility of this line of amps

Really great review!

you lose alot of the umph! in sound since it's a modelling amp so a roland 30 cube is the one for you if you want that sound, but this is a great amp for beginners specially if they just want to experiment ith clean and distorted sounds and effects other wise get a roland

i only played on one setting for about 5 mins but it is probably one of the best amps i have ever played

Would you recommend I buy them off ebay? I heard they break down easily and so it might break down on it's journey to malta. :S Or someone might decide to sell a broken one or something

At first glance we felt the same way. Truth is, once you've been around it once it is really very easy to operate.

To you guys who arent sure, theres videos out there demonstrating the Krankenstein (Dimebag) which sound very heavy. It does more than just classic sounding rock. Great character tones on this amp.

I'm sold. I'm so over the Line 6's. This seems like a much better choice in the price range.
