Gift from my parents in California, they bought it about 4 mos before I went to visit them. The battery, charger, lens cap string, and hood adapter missing from box. We went to Costco (M----- Calif),even though Costco forgot to add these items there is NOTHING can be done,it was bought as a gift over 90 days ago. Panasonic tells me that I am the SECOND Costco member to call that day with this.

Panasonic offers items for about $80, 6 wks later still waiting for back-ordered battery.

Camera noise is like the fuzziness of the picture. Not blur, but is fuzzy. Sorry If I wasn't too exact. :D

I wanted to get one but then I saw the nikon d40 :).It costs just a little more than the panasonic but I'm ready to give up the 18x zoom and the 8 megapixel for the image quality of a DSLR even though the nikon has only 6 megapixels.And one more thing: I thought higher ISO is for night mode not for blurr.For blurr is the shutter speed right?If i'm wrong please tell me :) Peace!

During low light shots, you can increase the ISO to get faster shutter speed, which helps to reduce camera shake and blur. For example, if there is low light, a normal shot in ISO 100 might have a shutter speed of 1/2.5 but increasing the ISO to 1600 maybe make that shutter speed all the way upto 1/60!

After looking at the reviews on the two cameras Ive decided. The f18 does have a bigger zoom than the S5, but the 18 cannot zoom in movie mode and the led is stationary in the 18 where the S5 led can swing out and do a 360, that would be enough but I also happen to already have the rechargable batt.and charger for the s5

I believe the f18 has a better lens and takes better images but you cant zoom in movie mode as you can in the canon s5. That said I still cant make up my mind.

Yes, great video presentation. I have been flirting with getting the fz8 , but now comes the fz18. The problem Ive had with my cheap svp camera [$80] is when posting a video it tends to be blurry, hope this will do better.

That's a great review. Canon S5is is nice especially for movies but the FZ18 has been reviewed as the best superzoom. On looks it is also gorgeous in black. Not so much the silver.

Actually,I have the silver,and it's really nice.

I definitely prefer it now to my previous black FZ7.

It's more like a mettallic finish,and different from the previous Panasonic silver finishes,and likes expensive and well made.

A good alternative:

Press the lcd mode button on the back of the camera,for one second,to access the screen choices.

The High Angle mode is ideal for"over the head shots",and for low shots,turn the camera upside down,and you can very good shots of flowers,pets,etc.

The picture reverts to the normal way round when you view it.
