Yes, this is Alirio’s style and his interpretation.

It’s how he hears it.

His interpretations of some of the latin composers are in many respects unique and very passionate.

Having said that it’s probably the one of his very finest performances.

I think Jim has a point and a fair one.

To me this interpretation is really disappointing, Segovia said Alirio was his best student in the Accademia Chigiana? I have no explanation for that. But here there's no heart, there's no expression, just a narcisistic show of muscles and speed, the sound is dirty, he keeps messing up with the music sheet... what does he think is doing? The world is full of guitarists more sensitive and technically better prepared than him.

I heard Segovia in 1986 in Florence, when he was already in his 90's. And he sounded just fine. Age doesn't count, musicality and good taste do. Alirio was (according to Segovia) the best student he had in the Chigiana music academy by that time. And he later became his assistant and successor.

You are a great guitar player but, please, do not try to compare you with Alirio Diaz.

existe una anecdota... Una vez estaba alirio diaz firmando autografos en un centro comercial o algo por el estilo, habia una extensa fila para llegar hasta el y la gente se amontonaba a ver que estaba pasando. En un momento llega un hombre con acento español y un cd a pedirle un autografo y el le pregunta: "A quien lo dedico" el hombre responde de una manera humilde mientras el maestro alirio lo mira perplejo: "A Paco de Lucia"

Zgadzam sie. Przy całym szacunku dla Pana Diaz'a to mu się nie udało. Nie ma frazy, pocięta melodia i nierówne tremolo. sorry ale żaden problem zagrać ta szybkie tremolo jeśli gra się w taki sposób nie zważając na muzykę. Aha, i nie trzeba być wirtuozem jakiegoś instrumentu żeby słyszeć, że ktoś kiepsko gra. pozdrawiam.

But this video is great and there is no reason to argue. By the way there is flamenco tremolo technique and it's completely different than classical one.
