I live right on the Arkansas/Oklahoma line, and the Texas line is maybe 50 miles from me. I just learned about these guys around 3 years ago. You would think they'd get a lot of airplay in these parts but they don't. That's a shame too because people are missing out on some good quality music. I happened to ask someone who these guys were because they were playing "Boy's from Oklahoma" on a juke box in a beer joint one night. Now it's Cody Canada and the Departed. Randy and Grady retired.
@snottyxraygirl There were good reasons for the departure and they are still and always be good friends/brothers. As a matter of fact I saw on Cody's FB status that they were getting together this weekend to jam. Check out the new band though, it's called "Cody Canada and The Departed" they have an album out called "This Is Indian Land". it's a compilation of songs by a lot of different Oklahoma songwriters that CCRW was influenced by when the were first starting out. Good Album
Like but too much like Blind Faith (Clapton) on the guitar riffs. Good tune too much influence from Clapton. Remember George Harrison and his 1st Album.
i love ccr cody has a cool voice and a cool band . but ya radio is gettin were it sucks for the singer song writer . if it was not for you tube weed be lost check out my cite bill hawks
Those polished up, trying too hard "country bands", need to take a listen to this. This hits you where you live, and pretty, thank you no. These guys are beautiful!
@pitbull8myguitar Cross Canadian Ragweed is a band that the country radio stations are not playing. Perhaps they are to much rock for those judging country music these days. Also check out Shooter Jennings. Nashville doesn't always include the best bands in their plalist!!
@jessemas27 They are an awesome band, there are great bands all over the country that are never known outside their regions, but in their own area they're heros. The problem is mainstream America doesn't want to hear real music anymore, or see anyone that doesn't look pretty for the camera. I would love to see them become recognized around the world instead of all those pop stars out there that just lip sing cookie cutter souless songs that they didn't even write.
@cjoeguid I agree for the most part, but I think that most Americans would welcome the real artists who write, sing, and perform their own original music. I think that more of the problem lies in the business where they are just following the same old formula to achieve big sales. When a radio station plays the same song 17 times in a day, they are ramming it down your throat, telling Americans what to like. I hate that. The most talented people may never be known.
Beautiful, gritty, just plain ass-kicking music!
