Not if it cuts into PROFITS!!! Senior management always commands excessive salary. Look at the past top brass who are now gone from the airline. All get huge sums of money for the rest of their lives (except maybe Grinstein) who doesn't really need it. I agree with these folks. You get what you pay for. Quality work force is essential for sucess . It's a constant fight with management.
I agree........the old Delta is dead and gone. The current DELTA is a brand new airline, today. Managerial greed is still ou t there. They say one thing but do opposite. The employees are a company's biggest asset. I feel that some top management believes that front line employees are a necessary evil.
EVERYONE needs to realize the old DELTA is dead and gone, along with the handshake deal and my word is my bond. You're working for a giant coorperation to which you are just a number with a cost associated with it, if they can lower that cost with another number/person, they're going to because they're in the business of making money, not supporting your family. Here's to AFA, and here's to us, may we keep the union and keep our jobs...
Great job to all our fellow NW & DL flight attendants in the video! This is an exciting time - we are going to set the standard and we can do it, together! A legal contract does not mean we don't respect our company.
It's such a pity that people don't know the difference between "complaining" and having a contract like responsible adults.
Anyone who thinks working adults should not have a contract needs a bit of maturing. I suggest they seek advice from the people who run Wall St., the Entertainment industry, Auto Industry, Tech Industry, Banking Industry...get the picture.
I've yet to see one CEO or Senior Vice President at Delta work without a contract!
Its such a pitty to see these poor people complaining about their conditions and not having a care for the simple fact that their so called industry is destroying the climate of this Planet from the manufacture from their Jet exhaust of an 8 mile high reflective layer of Climate Changing Clouds of Combustion, Contrail-Cirrus.
Air-Pollutions new A666 Nightmare liner that more efficiently and in greater numbers will be able to cover the upper atmosphere in ever more reflective frozen acid-rain exhaust cloud (contrail-cirrus) spewing from our kerosene burning engines, and that will obviously by its physical presence have an ever greater effect on climate and weather.
Air-Pollution Smoking high all across the sky non-stop Smogliners to the end that's nigh.
It's so wonderful seeing my Delta and Northwest friends! For all the anti Union peeps, ask any in your top management if they would ever sign on without a Contract. Of course, they would not. Why should it be any different for you, the front line employee. YOU bring that customer back, not top management. Stand up and demand an equal footing. As those in this video said, if Delta wants the best, they must pay for the best. Congrats to all of you! Your strength and courage is infectious.

It's too bad that with AFA "controlling our destiny" and forcing bad contracts down our throats, we don't have anything that shows the tangible benefits of belonging to AFA
kind of a hateful comment name, don't you think? typical union busters always try to paint the union activists as being mean and confrontational - but having a name like "patnofriend" seems pretty mean and confrontational to me.
Well maybe it's a reflection of the NWA flight attendants' anger at Pat's and AFA's broken promises and contiuning frustration at their ineffectiveness in protecting and enforcing the contract we have now. Typical union bureaucrats always try to deflect attention from their own incompetence by pointing to such non-issues as comment names. Where the list of AFA achievements at NWA over the last 3 years? Where is the current AFA industry-leading contract at ANY of its 20-plus airlines?
AFA did not force any contract down our throats. It is very easy to blame the union, or you can blame bad business decisions that lead NW to BK and laws that allowed them to abrogate our contract. AFA negotiated under the imposed terms and the FAs made an educated decision as to whether or not ratify it. Had we not belonged to AFA, or any union, NWA would have been able to follow through with their plan to outsource 75% of our positions on international routes. Where would that leave us now?
Now is the time for the flight attendants of the new Delta to unite and follow the lead of our pilot colleagues -- negotiate an industry leading contract and make sure that Delta's intentions to not outsource is put in writing. We are Delta, we are AFA!
It's summed up in the end of the video. If Delta can afford to negotiate an industry leading contract with its "pilots" as it rushed to do, then it SURELY can negotiate an industry leading contract with its "flight attendants." Perhaps keeping us non union is the only way to keep paying the pilots so well. I look forward this year to helping the premerger Delta Flight attendants who voted last year to gain a contract they so justly deserve and to finally be able sit down with Delta.
hard to ask for a pay raise when jet fuel is rising, swine flu is deterring air travel, flight schedules are being reduced, and 4/6/9/12 month PLOC's are being offered
Hey 'thenewdelta', it's time for you to spit out the 'koolaid' and 'wake up and smell the coffee'.
Have you taken a look at what 'the new delta' is paying their upper management? No one in that group has any problem with asking for a pay raise, do they? And they're getting it!
Without a contract, or the right to collectively bargain, we will end up subsidizing during the difficult times. Delta management is anxious to "harmonize" our pay, they say it all the time. Or, is that code word for cleverly cutting to maximize profit? If we -- the FAs -- don't control our destiny, someone else will. Who?
I guess you didn't see how they took 43% and then paid themselves 20 million each with it, but then again, maybe you don't have time to read - workin for the man.
Sorry guys, it was voted down! Hooray for the No votes!

Must be hard for Richard Anderson and gang to take home $17 million while you worry about jet fuel with empty pockets on the front line.
They love it when door mats are concerned about keeping their bonuses and multi million dollar pay coming.
