My cylinder wall has formed a little bit of rust due to motor being taken apart, is this a big problem. What should I do some PLEASE get back to me on this
i have an issue with my engine on my riding lawnmower. See if you can help me out. I have been havin a lot of problems. Like always i check my fuel n my oil sometimes my fuel is empty so; So i fill it up. it works. Well next time i use it on empty I have no idea why But I smell gas in my engine. and my oil is mix with gas. I Know that engine and the gas tank is by them selves. Well I find out that my gas goes empty by it self without the mower running and for some odd reason it goes to my oil
Somebody knows if it is possible to do the piston ring change without removing the engine from the car? I just need to remove the carter down the car and the top of the engine where the valves are? In all these videos the engine is always outside
in worn engines with weak rings or higher than standard clearance between piston and cylinder fuel leaks to the oil in oil pan and a while after changing oil it smells like gas also in injector types it can be be caused by bad injectors
Good video for those people who are nervous about tackling something like this. Anyone can do this, but one of the main things to remember is do not get in a hurry. Take your time. If you have to check something 3 or 4 times before you do it...so what...at least you wont mess something up.
first of all you dunk your pistons in oil for a reason, everything needs to be lubricated not only aluminum, rings need to be lubed too so you have a good compression and the piston pin needs oil too. second your rings are not well aligned the piston wears on the sides so if you place your rings that way they will wear out too fast. otherwise good video keep it up you're doing a nice job.
totally a newbie question but i have an 86 monte carlo, its got a 305 in it and im looking to rebuild it. anyone have any suggestions on where i should begin. id like to beef it up a little bit but still use it as an everyday driver
I'm assembling my humble 283. It's a great activity. I just forget even to eat... Well, I've put some platic hoses on the studs to avoid scratching the crank bu it seem that the upside down position gives you a better control.
that was a an awesome Video. brings back memories when I motors was my life. I went through your other video's wow I got some awesome info. purrfect. thank you for having this video here. :)

you had bootys on, you should of rotated the engine so instead on tapping the piston up
you would of shot the piston down

Why bother even putting rings on the piston, cant you put them in later?

@grngs1
No, they are installed like how ronnieboy44 installed them.
The rings seal,

I'd also lube the rings tool.

why does my oil smell like gas?
punanibuzzed 1 year ago
@punanibuzzed you may have a flooding carburator or defective fuel pump leaking fuel internaly into your oil..
ronieboy44 1 year ago 3
@punanibuzzed you have gasoline or blow by going past the rings
jayguy173 1 year ago
@jayguy173 so you are suggesting that gas is leaking into the oil through a broken piston ring?
punanibuzzed 1 year ago
@punanibuzzed no it doesnt have to be broken it could be leaking causing raw fuel to run down the cyl walls pretty common on carb or tbi engines
