  • prior to 9/11, Pancho Villa and his "troops" had attacked a small town in Arizona and killed several people, apparently in retaliation for being mistreated in an arms deal.

This led to the "Punitive expedition" by the US Army into Mexico, including then LT. George S Patton. The rest is history.

I guess it would be argued that Pearl Harbor was a more or less conventional military attack.

Then there was the first attempt on the WTC in 1993.

  • This guy is a genius, I read his book "The Gift of Fear", excellent, we should listen to this guy.

  • i already loved gavin debecker, but this is probably the smartest assessment of how terrorism has garnered a reaction that basically plays into the hands of the terrorists.

  • I like this guy too. How does it really play into the hands of the terrorists, though? We're somewhat afraid, therefore, they won? Are they going to stop trying to come at us? It seems like this would actively go against his points at the same time. We're now very aware of the enemy and may respond accordingly - which is good.
