although this isnt the original recording, the original was by waylon jennings, mel tillis, bobby bare and jerry reed, who called themselves (and their only 1998 album) "Old Dogs". All the songs on the album were written by Shel Silverstein (who may be best known for writing "Boy Named Sue", which you know by Johhny Cash).

The other guys were Mel Tillis, Bobby Bare, and Jerry Reed. Shel Silverstien wrote all their songs. The band was called Old Dogs, The cd came out in the 90s. Worth tracking down,. It's got a lot of good songs.
