If you hate an invisible flame ( or safety reasons), you can try to add some very fine salt to the alcohol (10 grams salt per 1 liter alcohol...) This will give a light orange flame that is visible.. :)
There is no confirmation that aluminum contributes to Alzheimer's. Aluminum is found in many products and food, like deodorants, antiacids, etc. I've heard that using cooking with salt in aluminum is not good, but no proof of this either. It is uncertain whether cooking in aluminum plays a role in Alzheimer's. Thank you for your post.
In your first part (where you were cooking outside)...why didn't you just eat out of the kettle? When water is at a premium...why would you dirty yet another dish you'll have to wash. Just my opinion.
Good question and thank you for watching. I used other dishes/items so I can give reviews on different items. I wanted to know how much food the GSI Outdoor bowl holds for those who want to know. I understand your point. In the wilderness, I only use the kettle and the plastic cup.
I like this setup a lot (almost identical to mine!) Does not having holes in your windscreen affect the ability of your stove to boil water / cook food?
Thanks for putting the brands of all your gear. Makes them easier to look up.
@PacoWarabi The windscreen works very well with the MSR Titan because the pot is small and the windscreen is fairly wide (8" diameter). However, if I used a wider pot like the one you have it might be an issue.
Would you be willing to sell that tuna can stove? I tried to make one and it didnt work out as well as i planned

An ounce of alcohol lasts about 8 minutes depending on the conditions and if you have a windscreen. An ounce of fuel is enough to boil water, etc.

what kind of alcohol are you using?
aharvard62801 10 months ago
@aharvard62801
Denatured alcohol. You can buy it at a hardware store in the paint thinner section.

Beans also have one of the highest levels of phytoestrogens of any food. Enjoy.

MMM beans... :)
Unfortunately, I think the poor person in close proximity to you AFTER eating that massive can would be weathering the "gaseous" effects...

put some salt in your burner, it will give a yellow flame.

Love the mini pie tin idea - would work well with priming a soda pop stove as well

That's a great idea for a wind screen. I'd like to get something like that for the little German stove I have.
