  • fascinating stuff!

  • Dude awesome vid...loved it

  • @PlanetOfTheAtheist Just like in the Alien movies. They based the creature on the ichneumonid wasps, similar to these. interesting!

  • You wouldn't catch me that close to one of those!

  • I think my GF thinks I'm crazy because I do this kind of thing in our backyard. I just can't help it, we have pretty cool little creatures back there: Solifugae, velvet ants (wasps), lizards, all sorts of spiders, the occasional centipede, etc. Just tonight there were a bunch of bats flying around! It's awesome! The other day, my GF, my son and I all went hiking around in the mesa and saw a few millipedes and a giant tarantula hawk. I just can't help but get excited.

  • Tf00t,

    Niko Tinbergen "Curious Naturalist"

    you'd like that book

  • How many of these burrows do you think you stepped on when following this wasp?

  • Angry Wasp: maybe you should change the prefix before 'f00t'! It took me an eternity to retrace my route because of your warmblooded primate stench!

(btw, have you ever noticed that -like electrons- insects too start dicking around when they're being observed..? Almost as if they know :O )

  • Let me get this straight, Thunderfoot is walking about barefoot in an area where painful wasps prance along the ground? It's madness I tell you.

  • So if the wasp didn't come back would the spider recover?

  • you are walking around barefoot? lol

  • @sotijas No he's walking around thunderf.....

  • loved the video, think i find this more interesting than your chemical reaction videos.

  • I'm disappointed that you didn't do a David Attenborough impression.

  • This is fascinating!

    (and quite terrifying in HD)

  • A grown man chasing down an insect for over 10 minutes.

Science really does let you keep your childhood fascination with everything your entire life.

  • that was an epic journey (from the wasp's perspective)

  • The digging was cute.

  • SPIDER! WASP! KILL THEM BOTH! KILL THEM WITH FIRE!

  • And five minutes later the place was set ablaze by a mysterious petrol fire.

  • Wow nice!!

  • i wonder if you ran that backwards it would look like he's carrying the spider while walking forwards

  • The strength of that thing in relation to it's size :O The tenacity of some of the insect family never ceases to amaze me, just phenomenal. Thank you for sharing this ~PG~

  • I see Sasquatch tracks! We have found out who Bigfoot was. It's THUNDERF00T! :0 Love your science channel TF.

  • I've seen the full size version in real life in Tx. That can't be a real tarantula hawk, just a close relative. The ones I've seen were nearly the size of humming birds.

  • Awesome video :)

  • You have massive big toes XD

  • And at the end, out of nowhere - mountain lion jumps out and eats the tarantula hawk.

  • @FamilyGuyRS and then thunderfoot jumps out and eats the mountain lion

  • Holy drama!
