It is a hen..However, i believe these birds are actually born with extra Y chromosone which makes them hakes or jens,, as i call them....Yes she could be a lesbian,, or,, a man stuck in a womans body so to speak....Or maybe hens just sometimes strut as mentioned below.....LOL ...any who it's cool to see huh???
Yes, hens do strut. Had one strutting, purring, and making a strange squaking noise around my decoy for about 20 minutes. This was in monroe county Ohio. It is documented by wildlife biologists.
Plus, listening to the guys work the diaphram, I'd say they know what their doing and talking about. Excellent calling. Ive been calling for years and still cant purr consistently like that.
Yep, shes a hen alright. For those who are saying its a jake, Ive seen a hen strut with a couple of gobblers before. Look at the fan, there are more than 5 mid-tail feathers on the fan. It's most definitely a hen, just look at the head.
hate to break it to YOU two(nimrod & beaver) but me and my wife own turkeys and the hen struts sometimes. Just like some (small percentage) of hens DO have beards. If you don't beleive me I have pictures of ours doing it.
what kind of diaphragm call is that?
