  • This is great! Good intonation, especially when switching from unison parts/octaves back into the harmonies. I just wish I was a little older so I could have been in the high school with you guys!

  • someone know what music genre belong this song??

    (im not from USA)

  • @nicolas932 well technically this is an old church song that was sang at funerals in the late 1800's. However, it is more popular because the Grateful Dead would sing it at the end of their concerts.

  • @swetzel44 thanks! but is a kind of bluegrass or something like that?

  • @nicolas932 i guess it could be classified as bluegrass. I'd put it in the folk category though.

  • @nicolas932 bahemian (sp?) gospel

  • The dead played plenty of religious tunes, what about Samson and Delilah? So Many Roads? I love the Joseph Spence version of this song.

    These guys are great!

  • totally, soggoth7. The Dead IS church, I agree. I dunno why churchy types don't like hippies. They really have compatible and similar philosophies.. at least the pure forms of each.

  • wow. i remember them singing this. =) they're even better live!

  • Well done--my compliments. It could be just a bit more animated, however; it needs just a bit more passion. Have you guys watched the Grateful Dead sing this? Check out the Alpine Theater version from July 1989. Their love for the song shines through--and they're not even religious.

  • Do the Dead folk realize this is a CHURCH song?

  • does the church folk know this is a dead song?

  • no sheet music we kinda just made it up as we went along. till it sounded good
