  • Great mod i would love to do this but i cant find where to buy these. Where did u get the thermal sensors and about how much were they

  • @MvZiCMaN I got the thermal sensors from eBay and they were around $10 each.

  • modded 360? dont games run better if you gpu and cpu are cooler?

  • @gunsnroses123456789 The system's performance in general is alot better when the GPU and CPU are cooler.

  • @OwnDiZzL3 would you consider it an advantage in online play?

  • hi mate, what is the safe gpu temperature for an xbox 360?? ive placed my round probed thermometer on top of the gpu, heatsink, directly above the gpu itself (only place possible to get near enough results). im running at around 45C with case off, but dont know what the safe temps are, and whats the max???

  • @gamerdude1989 45C is a GREAT temperature for the CPU and GPU. The max temperature I'd recommend is around 55C and then it becomes hazardous to the motherboard as well as the components inside. The Xbox 360 has an automated turn off feature that activates when the temperature reaches very dangerous levels like above 65C.

  • @OwnDiZzL3 Actually, target temperatures for xbox 360 prosessors and RAM are between 70C and 80C depending on mobo revision and model (Version, CB, etc) . The console turns off when they reach 100C and 102C for RAM. Your safe temperatures are correct however. Anything below 60C should be fine.

  • @gamerdude1989 well mate, my gpu is running at around the 34C mark. is that good?? if so, then how comes all over xbox's get rrod from overheating too if that temp is good, thanks

  • @gamerdude1989

PC GPUs can reach 80C and be perfectly fine.

  • damn i should try this with my ps3

  • I have a laptop heat fan blowing air into the bottom of the xbox I have it standing vertical. Is this good or should I lay it horizontal way. and put the fan under it?

  • Either way it won't really provide any significant cooling. But it's better than nothing. I'll recommend vertically placing your Xbox 360. The most is about a 3-4 temperature drop. Good Luck!

  • 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit, sorry. Forgot to add those words.

  • @OwnDiZzL3 thanks did some test found out my HD is failing. I install all my games on my HD. When I took one off and played it worked fine. I am angry because I will lose all my game data unless I buy a new HD.

  • If you buy a new hard drive and get the data transfer cable. Hopefully, you should be able to transfer the data to the new hard drive.

  • is 41*C GPU and 52*C CPU safe I've got the XCM high speed air cooler and add-on fan installed and got the old CPU heatsink from launch day and the newer GPU heatsink, for some reason with the addon fan installed the CPU with Mass effect 2 running is 4*C higher than before while the GPU is 12*C Cooler the sensors are in the heat sink and not by the cheap, do heat sinks get hotter than the chips?

If you answer this your a star and will recommend you to a lot of people wanting readings : )

  • I would be a little worried about your CPU. Also the chips are hotter than the heatsinks.

  • Thanks may remove the add-on fan more trouble than its worth either that or I install another fan next to the cpu ^_^ my first console with the setup the gpu never went this low temp but the cpu never went that high, due to first had 1st gen gpu heatsink now its got 2nd gen gpu heatsink while cpu is first gen heatsink :S

  • what is the desired temp plz?

  • No more than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • thanks

  • You're Welcome!

  • so running test was to see at what temp the xbox gets to hot right? so you can turn it off before it gets to the temp.

  • I was running tests to see if my cooling modifications would have an effective impact on the overall temperature of my Xbox 360.

  • i got a xenon motherboard... and i bought the 2nd gen gpu heatsink then bought a whisper fan.. do u think it will still rrod?.. its much much cooler now than before

  • Sorry to tell you but there is still a possible chance of failure. The newer motherboards use 45nm CPU and GPU which generate a ton of less heat. The Xenon still uses 90nm CPU and GPU. Allowing your Xbox 360 to run cooler will help lengthen it's life span. It may still die since the problem lies in near those 2 large chips. The CPU and GPU. They will still heat up significantly to flex the motherboard in and out breaking the solder points. The real fix for Xenon motherboards is watercooling.

  • oh ok.. i dont wnna give this xbox out though its kinda undetectable in xbox live...haha! lucky me

  • which one will prevent the rrod

    1. A Xbox 360 Fan Stand

    2. Xbox 360 Nyko Intercooler EX

  • None they're both band-aid fixes. Also look at the back of your Xbox 360. If it says it needs only 12.5 amps and the power supply outputs only 150 watts than you have the newer Xbox motherboards with both the GPU and CPU being 45nm which are so far not failing...

  • Thanks.

i have one other question if i got a xbox 360 elite now (2009 - 2010) Will I Get The Red Ring Of Death (the three red lights).

  • Most likely not. Depending on whether you got the newest motherboards or not...

  • Thanks

  • You're Welcome and Merry Christmas!

  • Hey good video! My elite red ringed because I was unaware of the heat related problems but now I'm looking into doing something similar to this.

    5 star

  • where did you buy your temp gauges? I want some for mine. Also check out my xbox 360

  • I got them from ebay...

  • GooD video you Got here

  • thanks man i had a science project and the temp. was my variable.

appreciation goes out to this vid :)

  • You're Welcome!

  • This is a great video. I saw this after I used the same exact thermometer I bought off ebay. Except I mounted mine through the front mesh infront of the HDD on the top and ran the cable down into the console and had the sensor on the CPU to get a reading anytime. No wires exposed, it looks sick and legit like M$ put it there. I got mine running 95.5 F on Average.

  • so what time is dinner

  • I ate during the video. =)

  • just put it inside the freezer and play with it , lol

  • no dont do that ever heard on condensation

  • lol was that a sparks at 7:25???

  • hardly seems worth it

  • how do you water cool your xbox?

  • u have to buy the product that water cools it its a whole case for ur 360

  • dude u waste money and risk for us kool i feel special lol

  • i can get almost under 70 with watercooling on my xbox

  • Is this while it is in the dashboard?

  • so what temp shoud my xbox be running at when playing on line? pluss will the warenrty be viod if a place fans under neath?

  • Your temperature should be under 115 degrees Fahrenheit and external fans like the Nyko Intercooler or cooling fan stands don't do much to cool your Xbox 360. I have tested them and your Xbox 360 still runs a risk of failure. The only way to fix your Xbox 360 is to get inside and mod it not a band-aid fix by placing a fan outside of the unit.

  • I guess that's why my brother lost his 360 in less than a week lol ,Does this cooling system work in Saharan climate?

  • Yea it should work....

  • Would you please tell me what is it called and how can I get one?

  • I'm sorry but this requires voiding your Xbox 360 warranty by physically modding the unit and you can purchase the fans in any computer store. The thermometer can be found on Ebay.

  • Thanks bro, I owe you one.

  • No Problem....

  • Buy the intercooler TS!! not the old one, the new one. It really works, it doesnt use the xbox power.

  • can your nyko intercooler melt

  • They were reports of the earlier models of Nyko Intercoolers melting toward the Xbox 360's power input. This is no longer the case as the newest Nyko Intercooler no longer feeds off of the Xbox 360 power. It feeds off of a seperate AC adapter. I personally think a Nyko Intercooler is a band-aid fix to a huge ingury to the Xbox 360 heating problems. What I did to my Xbox 360 is like surgery....I'm really fixing this problem.

  • y are you not getting 3 rrod with no dvd drive

  • You only get 3 rrod when a component vital to the start up of the Xbox 360 fails. The DVD-Drive is one of those components. Buuuut before the Xbox 360 boots up and checks the components it first checks for a A/V cable connection and since the AV plug in the back is not plugged in I will receive 4 red lights not 3.

  • Which motherboard is this? The falcon?

  • The first released motherboard.

  • 1100 degrees? How can it still work?

  • Oh, never mind, I didn't see the decimal point XD

  • It's 110.0 degrees. That's how hot it should run.

  • wow thats pretty tight wish i could of done this to my zephyr chipset

  • would you say 55*C GPU & 43*C CPU is safe temperature? and are those sensors in direct contact with the two chips? any chance you can run the test without the extra fans on?

  • Nice box I want to put a temp on my and see how hot mine gets pretty awesome man!

  • Is the sensor set to in or out?

  • The sensor is reading the heat from the surface area of the CPU and GPU and displaying the temperature on the LED display. I'm not sure if it is in our out...

  • 12v gets u banned from xbox live the can detect it because stock fans only go on 5v

  • No it doesn't. Xbox Live can detect your fan speed but they can't do anything about it to ban you because the speed of the fans change automatically in a unmodded xbox when you're playing a game or in the dashboard. They won't know the difference between a modded xbox or a unmodded xbox. Even if my fans ran at 12v all the time they cant ban me because I could be the same as someone not properly ventilating their xbox so the fans are constantly at 12v to keep it cool. Learn your facts dude.

  • dude...dont put your xbox like that...i got shocked..

  • Holly sh$it batman I think its hot in here!

  • thats a awesome cooling system, on my xbox if you short the usb ports the fan speed increases, its weird

  • how do you force your fans on 12 v?

  • Wire them to a 12v adapter.

  • First time I have seen this done. Very interesting. Where did you get those temperature gauges? I am on the llamma forums too. My user name on there is trackstar8

  • HOTT!!!!!!!
