@yiyin1996 You don't need a separate fixer to set the color. Once you're finished dying, let your project set for 4-6 hours to let the dye bond with the fabric fibers. Then wash separately. That's all you need to do!
@makeupLele The Tulip One-Step Fashion Dyes are carried at all the major crafts stores, including Michaels, Joann Stores, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, etc. We also have it on our website at ilovetocreate[dot]com!
@hammylover1000 It just depends on the look you want--if you want more of an overall color, fill in all the white areas on the bottom. If you want more of a scrunch-dyed look, you can leave some areas white for color contrast.
The Tulip One-Step Fashion Dyes work best on natural fiber fabrics like cotton, wool, silk and rayon. These fibers allow the dye to sink in, which is why the dye lasts longer.
@GeMzY67 To get that effect, you can just squeeze the dye directly onto the shirt (not tie up the heart shape for the look of resist.). Just remember to leave some space between the colors so they don't overlap into the fibers and make a muddy color.
@VideoMonkeyS3D Once you mix the dye with water, the color intensity lasts for about an hour. Use the leftover to dye some towels, pillow cases or sheets if you have enough. If you're totally done, you can just pour the leftover down the drain. Be careful not to splash around the sink, and make sure you wipe up any spills.
@CookiesR4Monsters I checked with one of our amazing fabric artists about your circle. She suggested you have to really crunch the fabric tighly up around the dip of the heart at the top, or else it could round out a bit. Sorry you're not happy with it! We'll add the tip to the video. Thanks for letting us know!
i used this dye and my shirts sucks! i let the dye sit in a platic rap like it said and i rinsted all the dye out in the sink and then after i put it in the washer the colors faded! it made me so upset
Very cute. My mom showed me how to do this when I was a kid but for the life of me I couldn't remember how. Thanks. I am going to try on a skirt, some panties maybe socks too.
Use the tip of the dye bottle to carefully write words on a prewashed and dried shirt. Since the shirt is dry, it shouldn't bleed out as much. Keep words rather large. If it's too small, the letters may blend together.
You can also use a brush. Squeeze dye on a foam plate, then use a small round brush to paint on your words. Let dry, then brush on another coat for more intense color.
marker doesn't work well when the shirt is wet, as in her technique. I use pencil all the time. Just turn the shirt inside out, and you don't need to worry about the pencil not washing out.
Works a lot better if you get the t-shirt wet first.

@briannafalkers You flip the shirt over, and repeat the color combos on the other side. This gives you color all around the shirt. Hope this helps!

do you need to use a fixer? otherwise the colour will fade?

Will this work only using one color? Like just pink?
sammieloves2laugh 10 months ago
@sammieloves2laugh Sure, you can also use only 1 color. Just be sure to band the accordian folds really well with the rubber bands.

Can u wash all the tie-dyed shirts together? Or one by one?
123starfire123 11 months ago
@123starfire123 I'd wash it separately first just to make sure it's set. Then you can wash them with other clothes. Check the instructions, too.
DuncanCrafts 11 months ago
@123starfire123
I've always washed mine together and really never had a problem. Unless I"m doing one that has black in it.

I want to make this shirt for my cheerleading squad. Our colors are only blue and white. Do you think it will look funny with only one color?
icheergrli 1 year ago
@icheergrli As long as you keep the folds tight, it will resist the dye, so you'll get the white heart. Should look great!

@MsHorses2 Once you mix the dye with water, it's at its most intense. We recommend you use up the dye within the hour for best results.
