@dayquan2311 When I first started I used the rub method with a foam pad and I had created my own solution so I wouldn't need beeswax. Check out the earlier vids to see the method.
Is it easier to start your locs with using the sponge first, then transition to the fiber cloth for maintenance..? My hair is at least a half inch to an inch long all over my head..
@YoungNMarried I'm sorry for the late response but Thanx for watchin the vid. You can get the cloth and gel from walmart. It's just a fiber cloth towel and aloe vera gel
Great vid and awesome, detailed instrustion. I am starting my 4th set of locs in a 15 year period and I am using the rub method for the first time. Your locs are absolutely amazing!!
@ExquisiteKinkyCoils Truthfully, I'm surprised that you've never tried this method after your previous sets of locs. I'm sure yours will come out great since you already have more experience with locs and probably have gotten to know your hair a lot better within that 15 year period. Don't forget to take pics and videos so others and you can see the progress this time. Do you mind me asking why you cut off your other sets of locs before?
@NaijaAmericana You're the 2nd person I've seen actually illustrate the rub method fantastically. I've been interested in this method for a long time, but didn't have a clear idea of how to do it.The other methods I used were a bit higher maintenance, & now wk 2 into the rub method, I am loving the results. My last set I started grab & 3 strand twists method (my fav) but the meds I took made my rootbeds weak & thin, so I had to cut them off.I started taking Biotin & MSM to keep my hair healthy.
@yjsdeed Well this is the method I used to not only start my first but also my second/current set of locs. This method made the hair loc faster and is also a very fast, east, inexpesive and efficient way of re-twisting down to the roots. I first learned the method in Nigeria when the hair stylist used it to start the first set.
@Nzurilisha Hey I say you should definitely do it. At least try it and if you like it, keep on using the method. If not then you can try other methods yourself or just have some1 do your locs for you but that can cost money. Of course you see which method I use so I may be a bit biased lol.
@ic0n29 Thanx for checkin out the vid. Don't forget to like it too. So I know you're using the rub method and going to a loctician too, How is that going?
@NaijaAmericana - haven't gone to the loctician yet. might check one out in a month (just want them to try and restore a bit more of the original pattern i had). i've been using the towel rub when i wash my hair then i twist it myself the "traditional" way with the clips and all (like 90%of my head i get tired). from the dome of my head i have em extending radially. when i they get to about 9 months i'll push em back like most people. already "liked" the video man.
OOOO they look great. Is that your everyday routine? I might try the aloe vera gel thang. I usually just use the salt water spray with added oil for my daily routine. I wash 1nc a week. It's been since december when I started the rub method. I'm able to wash without them coming out. I'm so excited, this is my first loc journey. Good to see you. Take care.
@1Hereigns Thanx for checkin out the video and subscribing. That's what I like about the rub method, it helps your hair to loc much faster than the comb coil/twisties or neglect methods. Hope you enjoy the journey tho and remember that patience and acceptance is a must. If you ever feel like cutting them just remember to wait at least till you hit the 2yr mark cuz that's when they start coming into their fullness.
@GoGETTER2001 I know right, it was quite a while. Was kinda lazy on the vids and more focused on school. Thanx for being patient tho, I'll try to keep every1 more updated but y'all just gotta be patient and understanding.
@dragoniumx Well it depends on just how dirty I feel my hair is. When I started them, it was like every 2 weeks or so and now I can wash them as often as I like but I still wouldn't recommend every day at all.
i wish mine looked as perfect as yours....i have been rubbing my hair for about a week, and i still do not have perfect parts...it seems like with each rub it looks different....meaning the parts move around..and some of my hair wont coil.....im not giving up yet...just in awe of how awesome yours look...geesh man....lol...love ur locs by the way...
@reallyfe1978 Thanx I really appreciate that, but even though others may like my locs, I still find things about them I don't like. We are our own biggest critics so wat you may not think is good may be wat some1 else loves. I actually am a bit envious of Appenie1, Check out his hair and he uses the same method.
How did you get thicker locs with this method?
