Alex mentioned that the mainstream media is now encouraging gold & silver buying and that they have a trick up their sleeve.

It's all true. Gold & silver will skyrocket. Gold should be at $10, 000/oz right now. The trick up their sleeve is that when investors/brokers "buy gold" they are doing so on the futures market. They are buying PAPER! Paper promises to pay out in gold in the future. There is not enough physical gold to redeem even a fraction of the paper out there. Do I need to say more?

Mandatory electronic transactions will make gold and silver useless except for those trading at the SDR level (not common public).  As for the last days, don't hold your breath. They're instituting a slow kill on the masses that is a 50 year (at least) plan. Either way, it's in God's hand but not their own. I bet both the dollar (in purchaing power) and gold (in dollar terms) wont be as valuable sometime in 3 to 10 years. Sometime in the next decade I think in dollar terms gold will lose price. I rekon one of the last characteristics the dollar will display defore it loses it function as reserve currency will be appreciation and this will accelerate the transition towards a global reserve currency.
