your'r wellcome=) I now know why I get proud, it's because we southeast- ''asians'' was once related to you polys, a long time ago, befor you guys inhabited all of polynesia=) Our language is a brance of the austronesian polynesian language tree/ group^^

I realy wanted to go to this festival, first, to represent my country, and also because I know our ancestors ccame from SAMOA, TONGA, SALOMON and South east ASIA. During this festival, I met salomon people, It was interesting to learn that in their country there are three "ethnies" Polinesians, melanesians, and micronesians. After, in september 21, I organised one cultural and artistic festival in PAPARA, "IA MARAE TE AO"and I invited some people from Salomon Islands. It was great.

It really sounds interesting, and you get to know new cultures, people, and at the same time have fun=)

I envy you guys. there's nothing like this here in Norway where I live=( Sad tough, cuz everyone here, and mostly in the rest of the west people seem to think that all polynesian looking dance is called the HULA...but they also think that every asian person is from China too...

@ Gille87 you're right.. was suprised @ how close Tagalo was to Poly lingo...

Like # 5, it's lima in Tagalo, it's nima in Samoa & Tonga, lima in Fiji, I it's rima in Tahiti n Cooks (I think am not sure..).

Mata for eyes in Tagalo - means eyes or face in most Poly Is. Yam which is ube in Tagalo, is uvi in Fiji and 'ufi in Tonga.. Kool huh..

I saw this group in the televised opening ceremony of the 2008 festival. It's my first time to see a Tahitian dance. They're attractive and their performance was full of energy. I wish to see them again. Thanks, Teriimataha!

Hi Teriimataha! It's me Junjun from Philippines working in Solomon Islands. Many thanks indeed for your reply! I checked their website and it's great. Though it's in French language, the photos makes up for it. Those Tahitian(Manahau group) young ladies performed were so pretty.
