Sheldon Wolin calleds the institutions of corporate America "inverted totalitariansm." Unlike classical totalitarianism in which a single figure (Hitler; Stalin) acts as a figure head of control, inverted totalitarianism is diffuse and unnacountable by any single individual.
This creep speaking here, dodging Sanders' question, exemplifies this perfectly.
Haha..Americans...You should have listened to this guy back then. Remember, this was before the latest depression. And the rhetoric is still, that the wealthiest people of America needs more or else they will move jobs overseas. Well they are still moving jobs overseas!!!! How long does it take for you to get your heads together??
I'm sorry. I'm just a little agitated seing these people advocating tax cuts for the extremely rich in America.
And I'm Danish for crying out loud! Why should I care
First of all, we give the wealthy tax breaks so that they can use that money to fund charities and programs to help the poorer population. Second of all, what I just stated is complete bull crap.
NO, we do NOT need population control, what we need is resource control so that there will always be enough resources for everyone and not just rich people.
Your proposal relies on too many assumptions of economics and human rights to be a viable solution in modern society. Absolutely no population control is appropriate, or necessary.
There are no assumptions, population has exploded the last century and almost every problem we face today is because of it. Its time to wake up and realize that less people is always better.
The ones that are doing well and so called successful are stealing and created this financial quagmire of a MESS! The WTO, EU, banking systems that are global are now doing the ponzi global stealing. It is now happening in the big box retail sector globally. This ponzi scam has got to end!!!!

Tyler.....don't blame capitalism for your child labor........America in the early 20th century was put on an economic breathing machine because of statism. Statism is the reason our country sucks. Gov't regulation and interventionism was the reason for the Great Depression. No one in the 21st century has even witnessed a truly free market.
The whole point to statism is to give you a poison then to sell the cure to you and they did just that.
Ever heard of the Federal Reserve.......and do you really think a "corporate made school textbook" is going to expose the corporations that created the Federal
Reserve system and how it fucks up this country? I think not. Mine didn't.
they wouldn't lie about having a laissez-faire economy before the depression. I think corporations would try to talk most about how the lakc of government controls was a great thing. No one's going to say that lack of gov't control caused the depression. The facts are, the government played little part in the economy and it went bust. Gov't intervention got us out of the depression
7: The Civil War(By the way slavery would of been phased out through the free-market the same way all the over countries phased it out. Slaves cannot compete with workers getting a paycheck. )
Gov't intervention was all over the place before the depression.
How is giving more to the wealthy any better than giving more power to the government, because that is what happens when you lose government intervention in the economy.
and CostCo and Target and Kmart and Safeway and Albertsons and Payless Shoes and everywhere you buy clothes, school supplies... what's your point? WalMart has the most efficient supply chain so you're saving energy. We have to encourage Walmart to be more ethical, we will never shut them down.
Well said! How about we get to the point. Let's be clear the elite doesn't care about anyone that is not in their chosen "Society". There goals it make us even more slaves than we are now without realizing it and we won't because everyone is to busy playing computer games and club hopping, not to mentione can not pay for a higher education!
This tax is a tax was developed to keep the poor poor. If a lower class person is able to save and purchase a home to leave to his kids. They have to pay a tax on that. Using Walmart as an example is just looking at one end of the spectrum.
Wrong. This is the common fallicy. Right now, under the current inheritance tax, you only pay a percentage on that part of your estate that exceeds over $2million per spouse and it's graduated to account for inflation. Poor people don't pay inheritance tax, period. It's a myth. Only the filthy rich pay. Do some research and educate yourself so you don't fall for this bullshit again.
two million isn't that much. Where I live, a very very modest house costs $500K and private undergraduate education exceeds $200K.
Please don't call me super-rich when I have saved my entire life and would like to leave enough money to my five children to enable them to buy houses and put their kids through college.
I have paid income tax on every penny of my life savings. The threshold of $2 million is unfair and is a double tax.
Stop giving tax breaks to greedy bastards that don't support their workers. Even the founder of Walmart believed that you first must take care of your employees. These corporate people are hording their money instead of sharing it and "trickling it down" to their employees.
lol, every time I go to Walmart I tell the check out people to work for Costco. $20.00 bucks an hour plus health insurance and two thousand dollar xmas bonus. Even better people who work for companies like that should google the best corporations to work for? Right now, Google is number1. wtf, the people who work at walmart should just walk away.
walmart provides the most jobs second to that of the government so why are the dems messing with tax breaks for walmart...i say cuz they want a are strong economy to sink low
Strong economy? Wow, aren't you clueless. Your economy hasn't been good or strong since Clinton was the president, there i said it. I don't care if he had 3000 concubines, i'd take him back in a heartbeat instead of this moron we have now. lying to American people+starting the war for no reason+only looking after the rich=good!, having and affair = impeachment. Good that we have our priorities in order
75samual75 im not sure how to put this but are economy is stronger at any point in clintons presidency

Totally agree. If the bottom 150 million people want change, they should contribute at least $5 to Kucinich, Paul and Gravel. But most won't because they are too stupid and rather spend the money on beer and porno.
Ron Paul is a Congressman, not a senator. But if things get worse like Hillary Clinton gets the Demacrat nomination, Ron Paul may be our last hope aginst corporate imperialism.
Coming from a married couple that works a combined 115 hours a week, and struggles financially. We don't work at walmart either, we work at professional positions, myself in the engineering field, her in the office staff of a large corrugation company. We'd love to raise our kids, but we are never home.
and yet the American people take this crap, let me point out also World opinion of America is lower than ever under Bush, he cares not for the poor or struggling , his time is up i hope , for the sake of our planet ,
Most people don't understand its military adventurism and socialism coupled with a fiat currency that creates corporatism, inflation, and policies that destroy the middle class and drive more into poverty.
They are turning us into a service economy of serfs and ruling elites.
Ron Paul has done the math and knows their scheme. The only true candidate to save our Republic.
Comparing our poverty rates to those of other countries is totally deceptive. No one in this country lives in true poverty except by their own choice.
I guess that depends on your definition of "true" poverty. If you mean people lying on the ground starving with flies in their eyes, you have a point.
If you accept the usual definition of inadequate shelter, food, clothing or clean drinking water, then many people are living in poverty and most already get government assistance. Visit an Indian reservation or big city ghetto and your eyes will be opened.
We Fucking love america you little ass wipe...the country is breaking down before your eyes...these are fucking facts!!!!!!!! What, what is better now than whenever, whatever was fucking President!!! This shit is unheard of...fuck you and Clinton did it, he didn't no one did...that's the fucking point you underpaid little scumbag
This video lays it all out. Why do middle class Americans continue to vote against their own interests and for the interests of people who would step over them if they lay dying on the street?
that, and some people with actual brains are simply mal-informed, others are loyalists and the rest put too much faith in politicians rhetoric and do not realize the fact that we have been screwed over time and time by this, so in turn, they are fucktards.
What possible justification can there be in enabling the transfer of wealth of the richest group of people in human history to their children TAX FREE, at a time when the US government is running the biggest deficits in history? THIS MAKES NO F*CKING SENSE.
The whole reason for the inheritance tax in the first place was to prevent all of the wealth, and thus power, from consolidating into the hands of a few families. They've done such a good job of selling the idea of banning the 'death tax' that people who'd never have to pay it, like my in-laws, foam at the mouth at the mere mention of the subject. When I tell them they'd never have to worry about paying such a tax, their reaction is, 'Oh. Really! I didn't know that!'. WAKE UP AMERICA!
You want "equity" in the tax code? Then tax everything as income. Right now, "sweat income" is taxed at a higher percentage than inheritance or capital gains. This makes no sense.
Warren Buffett has a lower tax rate than his secretary. 'But we don't want to discourage people from becoming millionaires by increasing their taxes. People won't want to become rich if they think they might have to pay more in tax. We can't burden the rich with taxes or else they might decide to become lazy bums instead.' blah blah blah. What utter bullshit this whole idea that taxing wealth discourages folk from becoming wealthy!
How long will it take America to recover from the Bush "Presidency?" Will we ever have a President with the gonads to fully back away from the civil liberties violations and the abhorent tax policies of George W. Bush?
These rich elite are traitors to America. They take their wealth offshore to avoid paying share of tax. THey take their companies offshore to avoid regulation & oversight. They send jobs to communist China & India to detriment of US labor. Yet, they want sons & daughters of labor to send their kids to fight in God-forsaken hell-holes to defend their business interests? Fuck them! They can't build the walls of their communities high enough for what will one day come their way!
I for one look forward to the day that we can take back our country from these fascist thugs and their corporate cronies. Look for the mass mobilization in DC Sept 22-29.
And the weaker Labor Unions get (good riddance), the greater (and wealthier) America gets.
Thinking is good.
Unfortunately, there are still dupes that remain oblivious that all this anti-walmart propaganda is just the latest attempt by labor union thugs trying to sink their greedy rat paws back into our nation.
Reject the Marxist throwbacks -- even the communists have evolved.
If it wasn't for labor unions, and the men who engage in its requisite thuggery to support such price fixing cartels, then Detroit would not be a national shame; Teacher's would teach math and English instead of Liberal mythology (including grooming innocent children for their carnal delights); indigenous Europeans would not be on the path toward extinction.
PRoblem with people like you is you don't know your history. Go ahead and take a look at the working conditions in this country before the unions, during the Guilded Age and prior. Company towns, child labor, 70+hr work weeks, dangerous work conditions, discrimination, less pay for equal work, etc etc. It's the union's fault Detroit is going under? Please. This country is heading back to those days and back to being another third world country thanks to thinking like yours.
PRoblem with people like you is you argue against the greatest nation on earth complaining of liberty and during its most successful period of growth and prosperity.
Company towns? Show me one so I can move there; no street gangs, no meth labs, no bastard breeding projects. Law and order. Child labor? I had to work for low wages when I was 13 specifically because of government morons criminalizing my efforts. 70+ hours? I work those now because I am at liberty to do so.

Bush?

By "america" do you mean the wealthiest one percent? Unless you are a billionaire CEO, your government is not working in your interest.

And people still think we're the greatest country in the world.

If it wasn't for labor unions, and the men and women who died to form them;
Your sorry ass and your kids would be working 70hrs a week in a factory.

Very well said sir. Reward the ones that try and punish them if they succeed. The cup is not half empty we just need a smaller cup.

Swim to Cuba.
