I begun having serious suicidal ideation when I was 14. abusive father. I'm 35 now, and I count my good days as the ones in which I don't wish to die. I try to make the best out of it. I think that's all anyone can do. I'm sorry about your loss, and I wish you the best, for you and for the people whose's lives you touch.
We tend to forget that being a teenager can be very difficult for many. Too young for certain things too old for others. We are trying to define ourselfs at that age and so confused as to whats ahead. Its a very awkward age. Alot of pressure everywhere. This was his world and it was all he knew, just like for the rest of us. No matter how small the problem was, he was 13 and it was definitely a huge problem for him. My heart goes out to the family. people wish to die whenever pain the pain goes beyond your coping threshold. people feel pain differently, and have different resources for coping. some kill themselves. others grow old. all die eventually. it's not that big a deal.
It's easier to make others laugh and be silly than it is to show sadness. I tend to do that as well and I'm 38 but when I'm extremely down I try harder to make others laugh and happy then at least you can see someone happy.

The video of an impassive Sean receiving the snow board spoke volumes about his state of mind at the time. Tragically, neither his parents, siblings or friends recognized the signs.

Its so mean to the family and friends... to kill yourself.. But the family and friends would ditch you in no time if they had to keep going through what some of us go through... sometimes it is what it is.. Let it go like the suicidal ones did.. Then bam, they kill themselves and loved ones are never the same again. Those that truly want to kill themselves will NEVER let anyone know about it. You would never suspect.
But if they are thinking about it and they read this, they need to know that it will not solve any problems they are having. Get help

Excellent video and commentary about the hopelessness and despair of teens. Depression is an insidious disease. Family members must be on the lookout for any indicators, no matter how small, that one of their kids is affected by it. The video of an impassive Sean receiving the snow board spoke volumes about his state of mind at the time. Tragically, neither his parents, siblings or friends recognized the signs.

its insanely difficult feeling like you have to be the one to keep everyone around you happy and laughing. when things go wrong, you feel a deep sense of guilt if you can't make it right...and that guilt taxes you to your very being until you reach a point where you cant take it anymore...its no ones fault, its easy to fake the signs. my deepest condolences for those left behind by the choices some make to end it all. truly

Some people don't talk about problems, ya know? Just keep their mouth shut and take shit in. I was like that and still am a bit. But I have family and friends..they help a lot

i've been there and it is a miserable feeling wondering if you could have helped. unfortunately, sometimes the happy go lucky, funny, life of the party sort of people are the ones hurting the most. they just do a good job of hiding it...but deep inside they sometimes feel like they are living a lie. they only choose not to let their gaurd down and let others know how they are really feeling, because they dont want to burden anyone else with their problems.
