  • Well, I like 60163, and I like pendo's, but which one's best. Only one way to find out, whoops 60163 wins!

  • @fouloleron2002 . Thanks , I agree steam wins for me. Steve

  • 13 on. no assist. no sweat

  • @SteffanLlwyd . Thanks ,yes 60163 had no problem with the load I agree. Steve

  • Fantastic video there Steve! Well captured even though the weather was at its worse. I do like the going away clip of Tornado heading under the rainbow. The Beattock clip very atmospheric. It sounded like a lack of lubrication getting somewhere on the kettle or the driver was running with the drain cocks slightly open.

    Thanks for sharing the video!!

  • @stuvids . Thanks Stu , the dip at Shap summit sheltered me from the worst part of the wind and rain . The rainbow was a very nice bonus . Steve

  • @981smithy . Thanks Phil , maybe an award for getting wet in the line of duty LOL . Regards Steve

  • @SteamAgePictures . Thanks Mark , I did think at the time as I got out of the car that the shot in the dip near the summit should give a bit of shelter from the strong wind . I had planned to do a lineside shot at Beattock but I was running late so I just did the safe shot but it could have been better . Regards Steve

  • @1Goldsteam . Thanks Alan , I nearly did not go to Beattock as I got soaked walking back to the car at Shap but thought what the Heck Im wet now so I might as well carry on . Steve

  • @Linesider1 . Thanks David , the rainbow was a very nice bonus and not often you could get that shot at the right time . Regards Steve

  • Thank you for braving the obviously miserable weather. Definitely worth it from my point of view, in a warm, cosy computer room! Great work. (or is that 'Great Play'?)

  • @SkeenaPac . Thanks James , the weather was terrible but worth it as ever . Regards Steve

  • A splendid effort by Tornado and the Cameraman!

    A very enjoyable video.

  • @allan5919 . Thanks Allan , very pleased you liked the video . Steve

  • As per usual enjoyed the show! Only hope that you had a hot cup of soup (??!!!) to warm you up afterwards. TU :-)

  • @HughFromAlice . Thanks Hugh , I had a few cool beers later to get over the soaking I got walking back to the car at Shap . Steve

  • Steve, Superb overall with the excellent vantage point at Beattock. I suspect the road noise would be more subdued if it was dry. Thanks for sharing. Regards, John

  • @molzips . Thanks John ,the road noise is worse when it rains and I had planned to do a different shot at Beattock but I was running late so plumped for the safe shot . Steve

  • great video

  • @lmogden1 . Thanks for the kind word. Regards Steve

  • Your efforts were certainly rewarded with the fantastic Rainbow at Shap. That doesn't always happen. Rough day for Tornado in weather conditions like this. What is it when a big engine travels over this line that it gets caught in the rain.

I hope Lizzie is treated better in November, even if that means light snow. Chances are better with the 2 day tour than doing all of this in one day.

  • @Mikelandscaper . Thanks Mike , the weather was terrible but 60163 did a superb job with 13 on . Regards Steve

  • What atrocious conditions Steve....congratulations on braving the elements once again to bring us the latest news fro your area....Bob

  • @robmasterman . Thanks Bob , I think you have to be a bit mad to go out in this weather but it was worth it as ever . Steve

  • Nice shots Steve, are we dedicated or daft !!!!!. Peter.

  • @The19400812 . Thanks Peter , daft is a good word but worth it in the end . Steve

  • Solid performance in that weather with 13 coaches. Almost as good as 45305 :P.

Wonderfully atmospheric shot at Beattock. Does seem to have developed a bit of a squeak, though.

  • @AndreiTupolev . Thanks Andrei , 60163 did a superb job and I had noticed the squeak a few times in my video . Steve

  • TheStephengthompson Well thanks for braving and posting. Your efforts were better than mine. Tornado was early and I still hadn't got to my chosen location (assuming that I could do as it's all fenced off). Just as i started to walk to that location i saw Tornado's smoke. What made it worse was there's a car park nearby that's normally fenced off and locked. Today there was a funfair there and the gates were open. I'm still in two mids to go to Warrington BQ but it's started raining here now.

  • @LMSStanier . Thanks David , the weather was not good but worth a soaking just for the Shap shot. Steve

  • excellent footage steve well done mate. andrew

  • @heritagerailfootage . Thank you Andrew , the weather made things difficult but worth it anyway . Regards Steve

  • Excellent work Steve, Tornado getting on with the job steady away in those conditions. Thanks for sharing Brian

  • @782sirbrian . Thank you Brian, I think your right as she seemed very quiet but that could be down to the weather . Steve

  • Excellent footage, well done for being there at all. I love the cascades of water off your brolly.

  • @johnandrewwood . Thanks Andrew, I got that wet after walking back to the car at Shap I thought what the hell and carried onto Beattock and it was dry for a few seconds when I got there hmmm . Steve

  • A nice opening shot, followed by an excellent view at Shap (my spell checker keeps changing Shap for Shapiro lol!) Beattock looked like a place only for the brave! That unit went through at just the right moment too.

  • @LMSStanier . Thanks David , I got caught messing around with the second camera in the opening shot hence the buzz. Not sure about brave ,daft maybe but there was 3 of us of youtube at Beattock LOL . Regards Steve

  • Great stuff Steve and in very trying conditions at times. They didn't seem to be working Tornado too hard today, and did you notice the "knocking" noise as it passed us at Beattock.

I think Austin may have had the right idea in going home after Scout Green, lol, but at least my cameras still working, and I trust yours is still ok after the repair.

    regards Mike

  • @rab4472 . Cheers Mike , I have heard that strange sound in most videos from today . I agree about Austin as I did not realise how bad the rain was until it got me on the way back to the car . Cameras ok thanks just drying myself out a touch . Steve

  • been there, done that, same kind of weather too, does it ever NOT rain on Beattock. Well done to stick at it tho.

  • @railhead111 .Thanks mate , I have done Beattock 3 times and it poured down two out of the three . Steve

  • Nice shots, how much longer before the view is totally obliterated by the trees on Beattock

  • @dragon7552 . Thanks Idris , the trees are getting very obtrusive I agree and it will only get worse sadly.Regards Steve

  • Well captured Stephen, showed Tornado pulling hard at her best up Beattock, pity about the weather, you deserve a medal stood out in that , Good One

  • @howarth004 . Thanks David , the weather just got worse after she passed me at Shap and never let up really hence the brolly. Steve

  • Very well done, Steve, for sticking it out in that dreadful weather! Makes good video, too, as these shots are much more authentic-looking than the "postcard" shots! . . . Alan

  • @balmesh . Thank you Alan , not the best video but like you say it adds to the video as it cant be perfect weather every time . Steve

  • what weather eh, very atmospheric, great location, fascinating to watch as it disappears into the trees and reappears plodding up to the summit, the rain pouring of the brolly, lesser mortals would have given it a miss, thanks Steve, he said from his armchair.

  • @noelist . Thanks Leon , the weather just got worse and worse and I never noticed the rain coming off the brolly till you pointed it out . Did not zoom or anything at Beattock as I had the brolly in one hand and the Handle in the other . Regards Steve

  • Nice work Steve, Shap Summit was definitely the place to be, you seemed to have a little bit of shelter from the wind. She was going well with a heavy train and on greasy rails too. The Beattock shot was excellent especially given those foul conditions

  • @acw71000 . Thanks Austin , I did plan to to do the shot near the green footbridge but like you say the wind was too strong so went in the dip . I think you had the worst of the weather at Scout green as I got soaked walking back to the car but thought what the hell im wet now I may as well carry on to Beattock . Regards Steve . Thanks for your text from Bay horse by the way
