I hate to put your school down, but I took UPCAT and passed. Pero hindi ako pumasok kasi I believe UST is supreme in the medical field. All my relatives encouraged me to study in UST. Malaki ang respeto ko sa UP, pero hindi sa mga UPestang WALANG LAMAN ang utak kundi HANGIN at WALANG ALAM gawin kundi ipagyabang ang pagpasa nila sa UPCAT lalo't UP Baguio or LB lang naman pala. UST was declared by PRC & CHED as BEST PERFORMING PRIVATE UNIV. in the Philippines with EXCELLENT ratings in 14 out of 19 board exams. UP naman is top school with excellent ratings in 14 out of 18 board exams. Take note, UP Diliman, hindi LB. XD

Oo nga't hindi pa nahihigitan ng UST ang UP sa lahat ng board exams. Pero bilangin mo ang examinees ng UP at UST. Ang UP, usually 50+ NERDS lang. Sa UST, umaabot hanggang 500+ with a passing rate of usually more than 95%. Kung nag-aral ka ng statistics, alam mong incomparable ang 50 sa 500. XD

arvynkent06, i'm sorry but i'm NOT an UPCAT reject. i passed the UPCAT but i chose to study in UST kasi mas angat ang USTe when it comes to medical courses. isa pa, ayoko mag-aral sa bulok na classrooms (no offense meant, ayoko lang talaga mag-aral sa bulok na classrooms). besides, my parents didn't allow me to enroll in UP because during the time i was applying for college ang dami namatay sa UP from frat wars, hazing, at mga ilang wala lang, basta pinatay lang.

Your Rangsit University can suck my d*ck. Its not even included in the top Universities in the world. For all I care, you train in Rangsit to work as a hooker in Patpong. UP is my champion for this year. sayang lang talaga at palagi silang marumi gumawa at madaming mali. deductions lang talaga ang ikinatalo nila. they received a 7 point deduction because of their errors here. sayang kasi kitang-kita naman ang difference ng level of difficulty compared sa CCP.
well, isa lang ang masasabi ko sumali muna ang UST sa nationals bago nila sabihing mas magaling sila sa UP. mas mahirap ang criteria dito kaysa sa UAAP.
Ang NCC po ay CHEERLEADING competition. ang UAAP CDC ay CHEERDANCING. Dalawang magkaibang bagay. Ang UST Salinggawi ay isang DANCE TROUP. Ang NCC ay competition para sa mga CHEERING SQUAD. Hindi kailangang sumali ng Salinggawi (na isang DANCE TROUP) sa NCC para lang may patunayan. Kapag di n'yo pa rin maintindihan yan, ewan ko na lang sa inyo.
besides that, jestam, UP is the one responsible for the change in criteria in UAAP. when one of their teammates got injured, the CDC was cancelled for 1 yr, after that the points for difficulty and stunts were lowered. they then started the GIMMICK/FIESTA/CARNIVAL style of cheerleading by incorporating folk dances and actually won. UST just adjusted to the new criteria, because in the 90's UST and DLSU were known for making the toughest stunts.
Its funny that you guys spend so much time about this UP-UST Cheering thing... I go to Rangsit University THAILAND) and you can see our cheerleading team... as in Walang-wala ang UP and UST.. mas magaling pa nga yung CCP because at least their cheerleading sort of follows the international standard... sa UAAP, especially UP pang noontime show like Wowwowwee.. ang dumi mag perform... UP started the "GIMMICK" style of cheerleading by incorporating folk dance in the 90's or early 2000's yata. What you're calling as the "gimmick" style of cheerleading is the incorporation of a theme, usually from sports, into the routine...UP did that when it won the CDC for 3 consecutive years, when they started incorporating taebo, swimming, yoga, etc. Well, didn't UST follow that, when they had a Matrix theme and skydiving theme in 2001?

ev9402, UST formed these letters 90's pa and whoo. UP did as well, so which means UP is a pseudo pep group sincxe you consider dances/line formation, etc not part of cheerleading. one thing for sure UP has the the most extravagant but very cheap props in the uaap. pansin mo? swallow your own words
i have nothing against UP. All im saying is with NCC, philippine cheerleading is heading for the right direction. all im opposed to is, well for me, some of the nonsense stuff seen in UAAP CDC and even in NCAA CDC. I admire UP for their talent to infuse their own own filipino style in this international format of cheerleading comp.
That's what I'm pertaining at. UAAP have a long time duration for the presentation of each routine so there are some unnecessary parts. But if you're gonna put it all in a 2 minute duration where everything should fit in and surething it will end up in a unique and a fast transition routine. Something that's creative and different.
This is what UP, Ateneo and Adamson had done. UP for their acrobatic stunts and a traditional cheerdance style put into higher level of choreography and unique cheermix, Ateneo for their hip hop groove and attitude, Adamson for their dance style, choreography and unique stunts. rent from US but retaining the basic elements of cheerleading.
yeah. i think it would also be better if they would apply the same rules in judging in NCC in UAAP. with that, UAAP judging would be more objective, accurate and technical rather than subjective.
that's why its called a stunt coz it involves taking the risk to fall...and that is better than making restrictions with stunts coz restrictions always leads to difficulty limitations...

Ive seen 4 squads who have d same tosses, jumps, dances etc. And another thing... UP, ADU and ADMU joining ds competition brought their trademarks & dey may nt b d best bt sure dey impressed d people w/ innovative stunts, dances & gud cheer mixes. NICE JOB!
1 thing why UAAP r d best contenders when it comes to cheerdance competitons, it's because they work hard 2 maintain d tradition of Filipino cheerdancing & d originality & trademarks of each UAAP school. Dey try 2 give d viewers a diff' taste of cheerdancing. Unlike other cheerdance competitions u could see similarities n their routines trying to copy American cheerleading. Same dances, same choreographed jumps which is somehow good in their performance but nt pleasing 2 d eyes.
The jumps are basic elements in cheerleading. That's why you see them in all performances. without the jumps, it's not cheerleading. Jumps, lifts, partner stunts, pyramids, tosses, passes, dance choreography
and other technicalities are being judged in a true cheerleading competition. not through floor dances forming a line, circle or any shape whatsoever or spelling U.S and T. or not through extravagant props like big fans, birds, drapes, etc. those are just for street parades.
but how can we put philippine cheerleading teams on the global map if we aren't going to follow these basic cheerleading elements? How can we compete internationally if we're not going to follow these international rules and regulations?
Cheerleading elements with a Filipino taste...not bunch of Filipno cheerleaders doing choreographed stunts, dances and routines imitated from US. Imitiation is different from inspiration. We should give them a taste of Filipino creativity but still retaining the skills and elements of cheerleading.
These what you say choreographed stunts and dances are some basic elements. And, UP didn't only do that but added some creativity as well. you would notice that they infused a sort of ROCKISTA element in their routine. on the otherhand Ateneo infused a HIPHOP theme. These teams infused them well in their routine and didn't dilineate from these basic elements.
if you want to see what i mean, check out bangkok university cheerleading team here in youtube. in thailand, they have the TCC similar to NCC here. They follow the same international rules but obviously you'll see the diff. bet. amercan and thai cheerleading. Their choreography is obviously different.

I hate to put other people or school down, pero i took USTET and i passed nursing there, pero hindi ako pumasok kahit mga Tita ko jan nag Med school at pre med kasi I still believe in supremacy is still with UP.
kaya kahit nasa UPLB ako i know tatak Peyups pa din ako. Actually my relatives from UST encourages me to study in UP. ako lang UP sa family namin, Malaki respeto ng mga taga UST sa UP. ewan ko lang sa mga taong bitter sa UPCAT???

I hate to put your school down, but I took UPCAT and passed. Pero hindi ako pumasok kasi I believe UST is supreme in the medical field. All my relatives encouraged me to study in UST. Malaki ang respeto ko sa UP, pero hindi sa mga UPestang WALANG LAMAN ang utak kundi HANGIN at WALANG ALAM gawin kundi ipagyabang ang pagpasa nila sa UPCAT lalo't UP Baguio or LB lang naman pala. As if mahirap makapasok don. As if lahat ng taga-PRIVATE school ay nag-take ng UPCAT o rejected sa UPCAT. XD

It's a fact, kahit sa The Varsitarian na-publish na yan last year. UST was declared by PRC & CHED as BEST PERFORMING PRIVATE UNIV. in the Philippines with EXCELLENT ratings in 14 out of 19 board exams. UP naman is top school with excellent ratings in 14 out of 18 board exams. Take note, UP Diliman, hindi LB. XD

Totoo yan there really is something wrong with our STATE UNIVERSITY. Yun ay dahil hindi ginagampan ng namamahala sa GOBYERNO ang role ng STATE towards better education. Mas prioritize pa nila ang military and armed defenses natin kaysa sa educational system. Kaya nga daming nagrarally against the ARROYO gov't.

UP is declared the top performing school by PRC with excellent ranking in 14 out of 18 board exams. UST is declared as the top performing PRIVATE school with excellent ranking in 14 out of 19 board exams.
Oo nga't hindi pa nahihigitan ng UST ang UP sa lahat ng board exams. Pero bilangin mo ang examinees ng UP at UST. Ang UP, usually 50+ NERDS lang. Sa UST, umaabot hanggang 500+ with a passing rate of usually more than 95%. Kung nag-aral ka ng statistics, alam mong incomparable ang 50 sa 500. XD

anyway, congrats sa UST. topnotcher na naman at rank # 1 sa recent med tech board (94% passing rate with 263 examinees). ang UP nasan? 4 examinees na nga lang bumagsak pa yung isa at ni walang pumasok sa top 10. yan lang ba ang kayang i-produce ng UP? 3 med techs? sabagay. walang kwenta naman yang trabahong yan at isinusuka ng ibang bansa. why would UP care? right, ali0318?

Kung may anomalya aba'y taon-taon palang may anomalya. Kasi halos taon-taon UST ang may pinakamaraming passers sa Med Tech board at ang UP consistent na hindi nag-t-top at hindi nakaka-100% kahit less than 10 ang examinees.
Ganun naman ang mga taga-UP. Kapag natatalo sila, may anomalya daw. Sanay na ko. Sus.
At hindi ko maintindihan bakit napunta ang usapan sa pag-a-abroad. Marami akong kilalang mga taga-UP na nagpapaalila sa ibang bansa. Kaya hindi ko maintindihan kung ano ang ipinupunto mo.

Check out the results of the recent board exams in Nursing, PT, Occupational Therapy, Architecture, Medicine, among others. Using your own words, "nagpa-exam pa kayo!" Super sala sa inyo, super strict ng student selection, same din naman ang ending!

Yeah sa mga nagsasabing walang kuwenta ang UP, try to pass the UPCAT first bago kayong manlait kasi baka sa upcat pa lang. ma-reject na kayo. I Repeat "REJECT". Meaning to say before you criticize one's university, be sure that ur school is better than ours, eh baka nga sipa-sipain lang kayo pagdating sa academic excellence ng UP eh... at baka yang school/university nyo kasya lang sa sunken garden!
UP is Definitely the best, no doubt.

arvynkent06, i'm sorry but i'm NOT an UPCAT reject. i passed the UPCAT but i chose to study in UST kasi mas angat ang USTe when it comes to medical courses. isa pa, ayoko mag-aral sa bulok na classrooms (no offense meant, ayoko lang talaga mag-aral sa bulok na classrooms). besides, my parents didn't allow me to enroll in UP because during the time i was applying for college ang dami namatay sa UP from frat wars, hazing, at mga ilang wala lang, basta pinatay lang.

And pep squads are a uniquely American legacy, only the Philippines can claim that American legacy in Asia. Mind you, UP was an American University.

UP is my champion for this year. sayang lang talaga at palagi silang marumi gumawa at madaming mali. deductions lang talaga ang ikinatalo nila. they received a 7 point deduction because of their errors here. sayang kasi kitang-kita naman ang difference ng level of difficulty compared sa CCP.

Ang NCC po ay CHEERLEADING competition. ang UAAP CDC ay CHEERDANCING. Dalawang magkaibang bagay. Ang UST Salinggawi ay isang DANCE TROUP. Ang NCC ay competition para sa mga CHEERING SQUAD. Hindi kailangang sumali ng Salinggawi (na isang DANCE TROUP) sa NCC para lang may patunayan. Kapag di n'yo pa rin maintindihan yan, ewan ko na lang sa inyo.

besides that, jestam, UP is the one responsible for the change in criteria in UAAP. when one of their teammates got injured, the CDC was cancelled for 1 yr, after that the points for difficulty and stunts were lowered. they then started the GIMMICK/FIESTA/CARNIVAL style of cheerleading by incorporating folk dances and actually won. UST just adjusted to the new criteria, because in the 90's UST and DLSU were known for making the toughest stunts.

Its funny that you guys spend so much time about this UP-UST Cheering thing... I go to Rangsit University THAILAND) and you can see our cheerleading team... as in Walang-wala ang UP and UST.. mas magaling pa nga yung CCP because at least their cheerleading sort of follows the international standard... sa UAAP, especially UP pang noontime show like Wowwowwee.. ang dumi mag perform... UST naman pang cabaret show...

UST already did that at 2005 CDC, di lang nakita sa TV cuz of the camera angle. want to know what UP really started? UP started the "GIMMICK" style of cheerleading by incorporating folk dance in the 90's or early 2000's yata. What you're calling as the "gimmick" style of cheerleading is the incorporation of a theme, usually from sports, into the routine...UP did that when it won the CDC for 3 consecutive years, when they started incorporating taebo, swimming, yoga, etc. Well, didn't UST follow that, when they had a Matrix theme and skydiving theme in 2001?

kung nanood kayo ng live,, maiimpress talaga kayo sa UP,, ang galing nila tapos rakista pa ang sound at naibagay nila sa damit nila,, ang galing tlga kaso may bumagsak nga lang,, sayang.. but still,, sila pa ring ang best!.. panoorin nyo sa tv para mas malinaw.. :)

astig! UP really impressed me with this routine...ROCK inspired routine??? WOW!!!
but its not that new, some squads from UAAP already had some rock music in their routine...
its very hard to adopt ROCK into cheers...but UP really pulled it off!!! congratz!!!

ev9402, UST formed these letters 90's pa and whoo. UP did as well, so which means UP is a pseudo pep group sincxe you consider dances/line formation, etc not part of cheerleading. one thing for sure UP has the the most extravagant but very cheap props in the uaap. pansin mo? swallow your own words

i have nothing against UP. All im saying is with NCC, philippine cheerleading is heading for the right direction. all im opposed to is, well for me, some of the nonsense stuff seen in UAAP CDC and even in NCAA CDC. I admire UP for their talent to infuse their own own filipino style in this international format of cheerleading comp.

That's what I'm pertaining at. UAAP have a long time duration for the presentation of each routine so there are some unnecessary parts. But if you're gonna put it all in a 2 minute duration where everything should fit in and surething it will end up in a unique and a fast transition routine. Something that's creative and different.

This is what UP, Ateneo and Adamson had done. UP for their acrobatic stunts and a traditional cheerdance style put into higher level of choreography and unique cheermix, Ateneo for their hip hop groove and attitude, Adamson for their dance style, choreography and unique stunts. rent from US but retaining the basic elements of cheerleading.

yeah. i think it would also be better if they would apply the same rules in judging in NCC in UAAP. with that, UAAP judging would be more objective, accurate and technical rather than subjective.

that's why its called a stunt coz it involves taking the risk to fall...and that is better than making restrictions with stunts coz restrictions always leads to difficulty limitations...

if the fall didnt happen. up would have won. their score was 306 and ccp's score was 308.5. one obvious fall has a deduction of 5 points per person. super sayang talaga! all their skills were nice and their last toss was wow! everyone in ultra was amazed with their stunts, tumblings and basic elements

Ive seen 4 squads who have d same tosses, jumps, dances etc. And another thing... UP, ADU and ADMU joining ds competition brought their trademarks & dey may nt b d best bt sure dey impressed d people w/ innovative stunts, dances & gud cheer mixes. NICE JOB!

1 thing why UAAP r d best contenders when it comes to cheerdance competitons, it's because they work hard 2 maintain d tradition of Filipino cheerdancing & d originality & trademarks of each UAAP school. Dey try 2 give d viewers a diff' taste of cheerdancing. Unlike other cheerdance competitions u could see similarities n their routines trying to copy American cheerleading. Same dances, same choreographed jumps which is somehow good in their performance but nt pleasing 2 d eyes.

The jumps are basic elements in cheerleading. That's why you see them in all performances. without the jumps, it's not cheerleading. Jumps, lifts, partner stunts, pyramids, tosses, passes, dance choreography
and other technicalities are being judged in a true cheerleading competition. not through floor dances forming a line, circle or any shape whatsoever or spelling U.S and T. or not through extravagant props like big fans, birds, drapes, etc. those are just for street parades.

but how can we put philippine cheerleading teams on the global map if we aren't going to follow these basic cheerleading elements? How can we compete internationally if we're not going to follow these international rules and regulations?

Cheerleading elements with a Filipino taste...not bunch of Filipno cheerleaders doing choreographed stunts, dances and routines imitated from US. Imitiation is different from inspiration. We should give them a taste of Filipino creativity but still retaining the skills and elements of cheerleading.

These what you say choreographed stunts and dances are some basic elements. And, UP didn't only do that but added some creativity as well. you would notice that they infused a sort of ROCKISTA element in their routine. on the otherhand Ateneo infused a HIPHOP theme. These teams infused them well in their routine and didn't dilineate from these basic elements.

if you want to see what i mean, check out bangkok university cheerleading team here in youtube. in thailand, they have the TCC similar to NCC here. They follow the same international rules but obviously you'll see the diff. bet. amercan and thai cheerleading. Their choreography is obviously different.
