God I can remember a time when my life was The Doors and Budweiser for breakfast, The Velvet Underground and weed for lunch and John Cale with Jack Daniels for dinner. Two packs of Marlboro Reds a day and plenty of pain killers... God my life was a mess. A fun, wild, bender of a mess. I miss the simpler times...
my favourite doors album...bluesy rock! lock the doors, switch off the door bell, close the windows and curtains, out the cat and the dog, slide cd into player, up the volume...and i m riding riding with jim!
Even Fucking Martians crank this one when they are taking a spin in the space cruiser, heading to the local re-filling station to get some green food... Plutonians and Neptunians, too..
There is no better album ever made for driving through urban sprawl at night than L.A. Woman. Both this song and Riders On The Storm are perfect for it.
dont agree with what manzarek and krieger are doing these day's what so ever never will do. whats in the past stays in the past, its not as if they need the money
99 says, the doors had the best record producers at that time,, the doors producesrs had a very good ear telling everything,, all yhea, they dont make um like that anymore, 9 says thoses times will never be matched unlesssss,,,99
And I have no idea who Marc Benno is. But he doesn't play bass on this track. The Doors' bassist was the AWESOME Jerry Scheff. He was able to make studio dates during respites and during Los Angeles recordings and rehearsels with the TCB Band.
This song was written by Mojo? Well, in a way. A musician (and certainly a songwriter) can tell that the basic rhythm is Krieger. Amd the melody doesn't really stray from the rhythm. Mojo's rhythms, and especially his melodies were out-there. Krieger was straight-forward. Look at Light My Fire. the whole middle section is just 2 chords. I think alot of folk forget that there were three other men in this band. I think Mojo could play a garbage pan lid, but that's about it.
I play this album everytime life suddenly gets good. I mean..real good. That dream job you've been hunting for 20 years, you get the girl, you complete a quest.,whatever. Last time I hit this song and was this happy was 12 years ago. Thats how much this album means to me.
the underrated part of this song is tempo, the band was a machine. its a drive right thru LA.you feel the shelby pulling onto the freeway at dusk on a sat., when you could crank it up & not have to deal w/ bottled traffic. you can feel the curves, you see the setting sun in the hollywood hills, you can feel the underpasses & shadow like tunnels & finally you can feel the car as it slows down, pulls off the expressway, pushes passes the suburbs & into compton. then back out & in from the desert.
@diegojau45 FUCK YOU and anyone who says that Morrison had no talent.Which ones of your song catalogue do they still play on the radio? They were ALL talented.ps go fuck yourself
@dangyoudan A few years back I rented a Dodge Charger with all the bells and whistles and drove to my sisters place...with this song ON..don't know how I didn't lose my license. What do u say? Sorry Officer..Jim told me to??
@dangyoudan I think it's true man. I went from my house in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Cornwall, Ontario (~1,300 kilometres/807 miles) and probably a good 30% was just The Doors. I can't go anywhere without listening to them at least 3 times! XD ... :)
In the picture Jim reminds me of Kurt Russel in John Carpenter's "The Thing." Lol.
