im doing the same volcano for my 8th grade science project! in my group im the chemist and i have to figure out how to get it to explode. so you just put the baking soda in the bottle or cup (could i use a bottle??) and then put the red food coloring in there with the baking soda? or do i put the food coloring in with the vinigar?? anyways, then after that you just poor the vinigar in and watch it poor over??

Start with rolled up newspaper to form the "bulk" of the volcano. Use a small cup for the neck of the volcano (and to store the baking soda). Use strips of newspaper to make it look nice and form the volcano body and surrounding area. Let it dry. Paint. Then add the baking soda to the cup. Pour straight vinegar in the cup and watch it erupt! Make sure you have something to catch the "lava" in or do it outside or you'll have a nice mess to clean up! :)
