love me some prince. want to touch his hair full of bounce and looks so soft. about to roller set my hair again so it can come out like that.. sing it prince!!
Andre's pants!!!!!!! Prince is thebomb.com . All that hair.....Imma need those pants in my life. I may dress up like this for Halloween. 'I'm PRINCE! American Bandstand "I Wanna Be Your Lover" performance.
Yeah, Prince got the moves like Jagger for real in this clip. I just love this man. I've always been in awe of him. He is one of those artists that you can not take your eyes off until he leaves the stage, screen or whatever. I just love him!!!!
Ah, I see... didn't know. Well, I am also glad he has chosen to leave this for us to enjoy. I was one of those punk rock kids who happened to be raised by hippie parents who loved the Funk, and when I saw Prince the first time I was like "Fck yes!!! A visionary who is all about the soul but is doing something new and different, who doesn't feel that he has to put his art and his music and vision in this box of what was currently acceptable in R & B mainstream back then. All Hail The Prince.
@AnnaSmall1988 Prince is one of those starts who does not like his copyrighted and legal published stuff duplicated on the internet. He is being very generous with some of his stuff not pulled, I am hoping he will 'unmute" the other video i just put on "why you wanna treat me so bad", so i do respect artist when they pull their stuff off of here, they have their reason and we gotta respect it. it is what it is.
1st, This is my very favorite up tempo Prince joint of all time! (Do Me Baby) is my favorite slow joint by Prince. I hope this performance finally shows that Prince never was & never will be a match for Michael Jackson as a stage performer! Prince is definately a better musician than MJ, with the exception of a few chords on the piano & guitar,MJ could'nt play instruments! Both are great songwriters in their own right. This is how Prince performed until he saw Rick James & stole his act!
@whiteside2010 hate to tell you but no one really ever performed live on american bandstand they mostly all lipsank lol...search for real live performances of this song one here ..i would know i was around then ..
@whiteside2010 I remember seeing this on AB and yes ... he lip-synced this performance. I can still hear the fadeout of the song and the one-word answers to Dick Clark questions.
@DaveWollenberg Yup so far so good, He has been very nice about it, I see I am not the only one that has his Videos, I guess he just not gotta bother about it, But it is American Bandstand (Dick Clark Productions) who "had" fully rights 1st over the video, but they were sold and the new owners seem to be cool about and cause This video was in dispute when I put it on, So I then 'asked for permission" and was granted full rights to let the video play throught without any voids.
@discolarry124 Well, thank you for posting it. And thank you to whom ever made it permissible. I just love him. You can tell he was just starting out then cause them moves, nah. That ain't Prince I know.
@DaveWollenberg This is a live performance. This is not owned by the record label(who takes stuff down, not Prince himself). So The copywrite of this performance is different and they probably dont mind
@DaveWollenberg yeah i don't think any one ever performed live on american bandstand. still it's s great mime so to speak, he is so uninhibited and having a great time on this, it's great to see. brings back memories.:)

My favorite line is when he says no one can do the things that ill do to you mmmmm he can do those things to me anyday of the week! He has a voice like I never heard before. He is 50 and still going strong . I love this song its a classic and one of my favorite prince songs
I LOVE love prince , I am absolutely in love with this man and I have never met him . I get chills all over everytime I watch his videos. I understand how he feels about people using his stuff and not paying him, I was able to see some videos though. He is like the only man that can wear tight pants and still look sexy.I love the way his hair is styled here and the way it bounces when he dances. He is the best next thing next to michael.
@taffysaur Song released in Aug of 79 and reached #1 on R&B chart Dec of 79. Not sure what year the taping of this show was but i'm guessing its 1980. Regardless Prince soared to the spot light and gained much of his fame during the 80's. ( no disrespect to the 70's )
