Ahh.... man... I wish I had the other mg games.... I only have mgs 2... And it was pure perfection! It made me respect Snake a LOT more. I also have the urge to play him most of the time in brawl now, after beating sons of liberty. My 2nd oldest big bro says that the games have interesting and good plots. His words are true! (He lives on his own and has mg games.) I wish, o wish I had the rest of the series.... They seem so darn interesting and good!!! I shall watch this one and after that mgs4!

MGS2 was an awsome game, but the bosses were just too wacky in the series as a whole in my opionion. A guy called Fat Man, who plants nukes? Any more cliches to play out while you're at it?

I like MGS3 a bit more. The CQC was great, and the cutscenes were great.

The snake in this game is Naked Snake a.k.a. Big Boss and the original guy from which Solid Snake (David) is cloned from about 10 years after the game. The reason why he is named Jack is also a way to connect to Raiden from MGS2 whose real name was also Jack. So basically if you choose "I like MGS2!" when you start a new game it's nice way of connecting by having Snake start off with mask whose face is identical to Raiden. You can try this yourself assuming you have the game and see what I mean.

MGS3 was originally released as MGS3: Snake Eater.

Subsistence was a re-release that included a bunch of extras, but the core single-player campaign is still referred to as Snake Eater.

Which one? Twin Snakes had two disks. Every game not on GC, I think, had one disk, except for the Subsistence Special Editions.

Yep. Solid Snake is based on Snake Pliskin from the "Escape From..." movies. Also, Snake uses the alias of Iroquois Pliskin in MGS2, iroquois means snake, so that name is a clear reference to Russell's character.

Subsistence is Snake Eater with some extras, namely these: original MG and MG2 games, boss survival mode, new 3rd person camera perspective, and online (now closed unfortunately). If you're considering buying one, Subsistence is the obvious choice.

the series is 20 years old, going back to the MSX2 in Japan, and the NES in the US. This game is from 2004.
