One of those quick phone-calls to 'cus confirmed my suspicions that all wasn't normal. But SAC was inactivated LONG before that incident. The 2 aren't related.

I've heard a few more people talk about it since then but it was never in the news. We did get some message mentioning something about an incident with

In Vietnam, they were often blindly bombing jungle canopy.

The model of B-52 in the video (the B-52D) never flew in Desert Storm like the audio talks about. The B-52D was retired by then. It did fly combat in VietNam along with the B-52F, and the B-52G. The B-52D carried 108 bombs (250 pounders).. Want to read about it? Buy one of the books titled: We WERE CREWDOGS, volumnes 1 thru 5. Stories written by actual crewmembers about flying and fighting the B-52 back in the old days. You can find them on ebay (just type in crewdogs, and click books).

@Kokoda144 - the old gravity bombs drifted a lot as they fell from 40,000 feet, so they were not all that accurate. On the other hand, the resulting pattern was effective in taking out targets the same way a shotgun is effective.
The newer bombs have various forms of terminal guidance and are considered precision bombs, able to hit within 30 meters of the target, often within just a meter or two of the target.
In Vietnam, they were often blindly bombing jungle canopy.

Shortly after this annoucement, Putin released a tid bit of plans about re-integrating former Soviet satelites into a Eurasian Union, supposedly to compete w/ the EU. Sounds to me more like Russia vs NATO all over again. Hope I'm wrong, but Putin is still faithful to Lenin...

How do you expect to load and drop 300 Mk82 bombs from a C-17, roll it out the back? There are no bomb racks on that CARGO aircraft and would be too dangerous to attempt rolling it off which will probably cause the nose fuses to contact one another and blow up the C-17. Besides, the bombing pattern needs to be staggered for maximum damage. Very stupid immature suggestions, ww2footage is probably some punk kid that still live with his parents?

WW2footage is some idiot punk calling the B-52 crap and is so stupid to suggest loading a C-17 with bombs instead of cargo which it is designed to do. For over 10 years, I've loaded C-130, C-5, C-141 and C-17, these are cargo planes not bombers. Both the VC and Russians fear the B-52, especially the D models that hold a hundred and eight 500 pound bombs.
A typical 3 cell formation could carpet bomb an area 1/2 mile wide and 2 miles long, rarely anything is left standing, much less anyone else.

Hard to call a plane that's been in service for almost 50 years a piece of crap. BUFFs do their job bombing/missile/nuclear strike, C-17s do theirs...transport.
No disrespect to the C-17, they have amasing STOL abilities..but the B-52 design has been adaptable..carrying all kinds of ordinance. Not a piece of crap.

The model of B-52 in the video (the B-52D) never flew in Desert Storm like the audio talks about. The B-52D was retired by then. It did fly combat in VietNam along with the B-52F, and the B-52G. The B-52D carried 108 bombs (250 pounders).. Want to read about it? Buy one of the books titled: We WERE CREWDOGS, volumnes 1 thru 5. Stories written by actual crewmembers about flying and fighting the B-52 back in the old days. You can find them on ebay (just type in crewdogs, and click books).

I worked on B-52's for three years, and flew as a crewmember for nine more back in the 70's/80's. Originally, the nickname was BUF for Big Ugly Fucker. But the media had to get into it, and wanted to report what BUF meant. The media modified it to mean Big Ugly Fat Fella. You still see the media using BUFF all the time so they won't insult the feelings of you poor civilians. But in reality, we all know it's really a BUF. The old girl is still hammering the bad guys. LOVE IT!!!!
