This to me was acid music ...any thing else was, wasnt this, Why cant the people say it... This was tha best acid tone on record.. you aint got an argurmeent,
@thebabyfish I am assuming that the term "acid music" you are using refers to what we used to call "Acid Rock". Acid Rock generally was used to describe music from the San Francisco Bay area in the mid to late 60's. It was also referred to as "Head Music". An excellent example of this would be the first Country Joe & the Fish album "Electric Music For The Mind & Body". Although I do have to admit this song WILL get into your head and transport you to other places.
Friends i'M telling you I love ROckes the best thing susedio in the world i love the bands of UFO,MSG,Iron Maiden,dokken,Scorpion,-Able",Megadet,heaviMEtal Deef Lepard, profunda Purole,Dio,Europa,Black Sabbath and other than the Wishbone Ash XD adoro the master of rock Amén brothers
Thanks for posting this song. This has always been one of my favorites. Of course, I have the album. But, I never understood how the only version of this song on YouTube was the live version. ...until now... Thanks therapydude.
Ok.. I'm going to make a second comment..:)) Everyone under 30 has to understand.. EVERYTHING was live back then... no mistakes in recording.. no corrections.. it had to be done in one take... but perhaps that's why these tracks seem so dynamically and sonically energetic.. just my opinion..:))
This track was one of the masterpieces of Wishbone Ash's golden era.. and please don't knock today's players as computer trash.. I wish I'd had those tools back in the seventies... all things to all people.. but yes.. "paying our dues" is now a thing of the past.. and guys like Andy Powell still show us the value of keeping music real..:)))
It's good to see so many positive comments here, about this song. Youtube seems to be a hatefest, where people vent their anger over nothing. But here, we are all lovers of great rock !
@skbricker Yeah, they were always overshadowed in the 70's by Led Zep, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath etc, but WA were always my favourite band. Rock, with melody !
@Dwarfstorm That's the thing about WA. I always say that til Wishbone 4 they couldn't get any better (of course, I know it sounds cheesy, but highlights to Argus -- my favourite album EVER). After that, they made some more or less albums but >.< Oh dear, they DO hide PEARLS like this one. x)
this song by wishbone is a master piece. No doubt they created an out-of-this-world rock ballad (basically). The texture,Theme, lyrics, total composition and sweet-melancholy guitars in the song have really delivered an excellent n mind grabbing impact for listeners.Guitar works really match with the lyrics n main theme. Great Work.
Ah, they were brilliant. It was Martin Turner's band that we saw, but Andy Powell's band are playing soon too. Spoke to him at the end too-he's just lovely :)
melodic guitars, haunting vocals and a great bass line make this one of my favorite Wishbone Ash songs. Saw them several times in the 70's. Awesome dual guitars. Great live band.
Brilliant song with spectacular images. Thanks therapydude. Persephone has a mystical, magic feel that leaps beyond the song into the heart. Fallen angel rises again in the end.
I will double the comment about melancholy and nostalgia. I listened to the Ash almost every day in college, headphones on, staring at the Bridger Mountains. Rarely has a month past that I have not listened and thought of the what might have beens, old friends I never see, and the youth I have no more. Certainly this band had a unique talent.
Wishbone Ash creep eminatly and leave chills in most unusual anatomic areas. It must be the sizzling sound of the windbreaker cooling off the Marshalls -O)
Very nice posting. I disagree with Cayke1. I can enjoy both the music and the photography/art at the same time. I also enjoyed houtturn1's posting of this song. I don't have to be watching the source of the music to enjoy it. I'm 50 with 22 and 30 year old kids - this takes me back to my college days that were a blast. Don't let anyone try to tell you how to use youtube - You are doing just fine. Thanks again.
I don't get this 'setting music to nice pictures stuff'. Surely anyone searching for Persephone wants to see Wishbone Ash, yes? It's You Tube - you know, videos, films etc. Just clogs up all the results.
If you want to put together a student montage of flowers and fields - fine - but don't set it to this music and tag it as such. I'd rather watch Martin Turner and then go for a walk in the country.
My younger bro. turned me on this group MANY, MANY moons ago! I don't think I have heard anything that I would same is comparable to their style up to this day.
