@thesmoothcriminalx Red Alert 1 has been freeware for some years already, it's legit wherever you download it from. Easiest way to play RA1 online is to download it from redalert1 d.o.t com, only thing you have to do is to go Multiplayer and Network from Main Menu in game.

@At0m1 I'm into it! But I can't find a LAN patch that works with Windows 7. So I connect to tunngle, launch the game, and upon clicking on the 'network' button it blinks for a sec and brings me back to the main menu.

Bottom line, the LAN fix patch for red alert 1 does not support windows 7. Do you have any suggestions? Cuz I'd like to join you on tunngle and play with you!

@Darkswatch yO man, for playing in Tunggle you need Minira3. It has all the patches which are needed included. Easiest way to get it is to ask someone on Tunggle to send it to you.

7. If you have Windows Vista (this may work on Windows 7) click on the link that says "bug fixing tutorials" at the bottom.

@At0m1 You should get a CD burner, and two CD-R's. Because there's this one site which legally allows you to have a copy of the Aftermath, and Counterstrike expansions legally. There's like nothing you have to do, except download the iso's and burn them onto the discs.

@At0m1 I loved the original Red Alert myself, but it's very annoying when you're playing against the AI, and all you have is a regular submarine, I mean like in Skirmish, or CO-OP. Then you're basically stuck.

You guys... just get the 3.03 patch for Red Alert which has a built in online interface.

Also you can download Command and Conquer Red Alert at cnc-comm (dot ) com

in the downloads section.

And also, at the C&C Communications Center we have CnCNet which allows up

to 6 players in a single match using Nyerguds 1.06b r2 patch.

You can also private message me if you can't get anything to work and such.

You have to run it in compatibility mode for windows 95

Just find the .exe right click, properties, compatibility and set to 95.

If you run this on Windows 7 then all the colors get screwed up. But it got fixed. But it wasn't permemently fixed. It fixed when a UAC windows popped up in the middle of the game.

Here's how you activate UAC. Open the Control Panel, then go to User Accounts and Family Safety> User Accounts> Change User Account Control settings. Then a window will pop-up where you can change when the UAC notifies you.

I have UAC and everything else disabled. I still get the messed up colors. I don't know whether I should Reinstall or do something else =/

You need to turn ON the UAC. Then make sure a UAC window pops-up in the middle of the game. You get the best chance if you set the UAC to the most secure setting.

I have found out how i can make this happen on my computer.

It happens EVERYTIME i start RE95, but just a millisecond before the game starts, i close folder containing RE95.exe.

This always messes up the colors on my screen.

I have this problem. Me and my friends are dying to play this game. I play on XP and my friends play on VISTA. We done the lan patch procedure but when we're in network in either RA1 or RA2. I cannot (XP) see anyone. Strangely, I can see them type, and they (VISTA) can see me on lobby. This isn't a issue because I can still join their rooms (vista) ALTHOUGH, my vista friend cannot see/join my other vista friend and vise versa. How come? We really want to play with 4 players please answer. :) ty!

Your problem may be caused by firewall. Try to turn your firewall off or try to play at Kali,
