  • i dont have a mustang but i have 98 f150 4.6l and i wanna ask more guys what theyre take on which cai is better. i talked to a guy from outlaw trucks and he told me that k&n cai are good but i would do alot better off with afe and that afe is a better cai can anyone help me on my decision?

  • Nice truck brother. I have a 2010 with the 5.4 myself. I was unsure of what CAi to get, but you solved that problem . My only question is, did that intake cause your truck to trigger the check engine light. SOme say it happens because the engine runs lean with a CAI unless you run a tuner. Please advise.

  • @heatherandpaul2 nope no codes thrown. i removed the intake because i didnt have a tune though, i felt as if i was actually getting worse fuel economy and no power gains. throttle response was different though.

  • @hitmix300 Wait, so you removed the AFE intake again? Did you mean you took off the stock intake or the AFE intake?

  • @hitmix300 I dont understand. It sounds as if you're saying that you took the AFE intake back off because it did not work due to not having a tune? Is this correct?

  • FYI the Compartments your calling stupid is meant for hard core offroading instead of water just going into you engine and water locking it, it will be going into the "stupid compartments" until it they are fool of water so it wont flood right away.

  • @bigdog813 Sorry, but the "compartments" are for sound deadening of the induction noise, they won't stop or store water, the manufacturers put these on most all vehicles, not just off road stuff

  • There is no warranty concern for installing an intake or exhaust system. I test drove a brand new 6.2 Raptor that the dealership put intake & exhaust setup on. The only way it might be an issue is if someone put a faulty filter on & the dealership could prove that it dusted the engine.

  • what was your fuel economy before and after install? i might have to get this :D

  • @gammathetasbear to make it really work. you need to get a tune! its great.

  • why didnt u get the dry filter? put an oiled system on a truck designed for offroad use haha, enjoy cleaning it

  • not ruse roush

  • @xboxmasta09 huh?

  • @hitmix300 u said it like ruse ok now go to google and type it roush my and my friend love the brand roush shold chex some time

  • @xboxmasta09 hahahaha i cought that to

  • I have a 09 F150 XLT 4.6 / 3V motor.

There is a small - (i believe it to be for the PCV valve) - plastic tube running from the left side (facing the motor) valve cover to the OEM intake tube.

Is there a connection on the AFE tube for that?

  • Hey question on the instillation. Isnt there an oxygen sensor on the stock air hose? I didnt see it hooked to the new afe tube. what did you do to it?

  • ya there is a mass air flow sensor look at the air housing and youll see a cable going into it with two torx screws holding it in

  • how much did you pay for it.

  • i cannot remember, i contacted a ebay seller and paypaled him directly for less than the auction price (saves him on fees) and I save a buck. i think around 250 bucks.. totally worth it tho

  • Have you noticed any issues with the CAI, check engine light, stalling, poor idle? Im asking because I have a Raptor 5.4 also and have been STRONGLY considering getting a CAI for mpgs but didnt know if the extra electronics in the raptor would cause the CAI to not work proper. Any info would be great

    Thanks bro..

  • no issues what so ever... its 100 percent perfect the truck automatically adjusts the mapping so you just need to install and make sure everythings fine and you'll b good

  • Hey bro I appreciate you commenting back, I know I will get one for sure, espescially since youve had no issues since the install.

Do you know if it voids the warranty or are you unsure

  • i am 100 percent positive ford is OKAY with it. i talked to my countys largest ford dealers head mechanic and he said if the the problem with my truck is directly related to the intake, then the warranty will not be valid, but if there is a electrical issue or engine problem not related to the intake, its no big deal. they are very cool about it here!

  • ok thanks again bro let me know if you do any more upgrades

  • Sweet Sound of a V8 that can breathe easier! Looks 'clean' under the hood too. Waiting to get a White 6.2; Will have to do the same to it as well. Thanks for sharing, Man!

  • Awesome truck! Cant wait for the 6.2 to be released. Those extra compartments on the stock intake are there just to act as a silencer for the stock intake. Thats why the AFE sounds so much better than the Roush.

  • thanks for the info, i wanted to know what those stupid compartments were for... lol i think it looks like crap, this AFE is way better in every aspect

  • The raptor is fucking orgasmic! Air intake was a nice touch, I think I might do that as well when I get my hands on one.

  • nice truck dude you now if the raptor have a optional engine for 2010 like 6.2 ??? r have the same 5.4 ?

    thxn

  • Nice. Good share as well man.

  • SICK, dude i love yout truck
