  • I have a class B CDL but would like to upgrade to a class A,

  • I have a class B CDL but woild like to upgrade to a class A,

  • How was working for Werner like? I am thinking of getting my CDL, and the school I would go to has Werner and Swift as their "core" carriers.

  • my husband had to do 140 hour training with werner even though he had been driving 17 years . dollar general dedicated drivers get alot of training . he was gone 5 weeks just for 140 hours his trainer sucked and was nasty. hope your trainer was cleaner.his trainer didnt teach him half of what he was supposed to teach him. good thing he had previous experience.

  • your an idiot

  • Did they teach ya how to talk on the CB radio in driving school?

Did they teach ya how to do that "clothes pin on the noise" twang kinda thang?

Is there a quiz for that part as well?

Are you still driving or was that short lived?

Last video I just watched of yours you were in Korea now you're in GA driving a truck.

Are you gonna drive in the US or cook in Korea?

    KT

  • who are you driving for now?

  • am not driving.

  • Trucking is not what everyone think it is. I have been doing it for 7 years now. I been through so many things, and it takes a lot of patience, you just do your best, don't get a wreck, and look forward to another day.

  • I don't understand are you a english teacher in korea now? Im at Camp Casey, Korea Im in the Army. I use to truck for Knight Transportation did that for about 2 years then I left them and came back into the Army..Its going ok I guess.

  • Yes I am in Korea now. I teach English in a private school in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, which is between Daegu and Pohang on the KoRail line.

  • TIP......always back up first even if backed into a dock, just bump the pin, then try to pull ahead with the spike pulled, both to double check the trailers attached

  • Ok i just came back to the page and dont see my last comment so ill say again just in case. ive been looking for a good school that helps fnancialy. some on the inter net have been to good 2 b true and just get so frustrated. ne1 with info please send it to me. glad to accept ne friands as long as it has to do w/ trucking. Email is CBtalker205@yahoo

  • I'm proud for you. I'm en route to Detroit as I write this. So far, I'm loving it all. Keep in touch. All the best to you.

  • So how are u liking driving truck? I need to get into drive'n so I been watch'n your vid's. There a bit hard to follow theres a lot of them. I thought u were a Schnider. Now someones saying your at Wener. Also this vid says your off and going back to finsh up some hours. What I heard was you got the school, then you go on the road for 8,000 miles with a trainer. I'm think'n of selling my house save'n the money and living off the truck. You think this is do able? Thanks

  • Basically, this has been an evolutionary process for me ever since November, 2007 when I knew nothing at all about trucking. After earning my CDL, I trained a week with Schneider. I've been with Werner since and intend to continue with them.

  • At first, I brain stormed with myself about this transition and pondered about selling my house. I'm trying to remain evenly keeled about the whole picture. Until I'm finished training and am really "truckin'," so much is guess work.

  • I'm looking for one good training outfit and i'd like to stay with the same outfit. You got any helpful info haveing had recent experiance with it all. One guy said u just have to keep moving around til u find the outfit for u, this sound rt. to u. Thanks.

  • Werner began paying me from the very first day of orientation which (in Lithia Springs, GA) was handled very well and efficiently in a no BS sort of way for 2 day. Two days later, I began driving with a trainer doing real everyday trucking stuff. Now, 5 weeks later, I feel like I've gotten some solid grounding.

  • I'm actually enjoying the "paperless" logging that many dislike, but that's me.

If you decide to go with Werner, please tell them I referred you (yes, there's money in that for me).

  • Do you want to wear a uniform? be clean shaven? wear company shoes? do you want to drive regionally, 48 states, flatbeds, reefers? does the company require HAZ MAT endorsement? What health care plans are available? Passenger / Pet policies? these are some questions you should ponder.

  • How's one gona know these things.I don't wanta wear a uniform, or shave if I don't want to, I hate refers they make too much noise. 48's alrt. I guess your saying I just have to wing it. I heard flatebeds good, one load they unload it.

  • I will tell Werner. I'm in Kingman, lots of Werner trucks. U get money, thats good.

  • I know I am providing cheap labor for Werner, but that's par for the course with any company during training. So far, Werner and I are making a good mix.

Yes, you should look into a variety and be flexible till you find your niche.

  • So, I take it u were only at Schenider a couple days, did u have to pay them? Then u went to Werner, oh Werner gave you hands on trianing right away! U didn't have to spend time in a simulator, is that it. I was woundering about the simulator.Thanks.

  • I was with Schneider (Charlotte, NC) a whole week. They took care of the bus fare, room, and meals. I paid nothing. Both Schneider and Werner have simulators which they use in their CDL schools (which require financial commitments, one way or another, from students).

  • Many companies offer CDL training which requires a financial commitment from students -- either through a contract to stay with the company for a minimal number of months or a cash payment. Many, like Werner, offer tuition reimbursement for CDL training completed at private schools. Werner has already begun reimbursing me.

  • Thanks again. I'll give it a rest,LOL.

  • Hey bigbearron, I've been watching your vids and I have to say you answered alot of my questions. I start CDL training this monday in Indiana. Excited and nervous at the same time lol! But I cant wait. Keep the vids a coming and I'll try to get a cam and start the posts! Drive safe

  • The pleasure was mine! Keep in touch. Who knows? We might get the good fortune of crossing roads some day. Be good, and good at it.

  • Ron, thanks for the update, very interesting. Today was my first day out on the actual streets driving. All I can is in short is, WOW what an experience. Looking forward to more. Take-Care

    Clyde

  • I'm sure you've learned much through every moment. I know I have.

  • Good to hear training's going well, though I'm not sure "crash course" is how I'd want to phrase any training to drive, LOL! Safest miles to you Ron, and point that big blue Freightshaker to NJ dammit!

  • well glad to hear your enjoying your days off and your new job!!

  • I agree with Tony, keep em coming!

  • The line 'make some videos' is the part i like about this video. :)

  • LOL! I definitely got carried away! Would you believe that ideas for my latest videos have been in my head for days and days while driving the truck?

    All the best to you!

  • So I 'for one' am anxious to see them!!:) Get that cam rolling Ron!! :P
