  • I wonder where those kids are now...

  • @CommanderC00L558 Under another upload one of that boys commented all the names of kids in the video and himself, and said they got money for being in that music video, but unfortunately they didn't meet Dino Jr.

  • El verdadero Mainstream del Alternativo de principios de los 90's!! La melancolia hecha musica :')

  • Matt Dillon & Jay Mascis went down to a Northampton, MA school to recruit some kids for their music video. Dillon was directing. My best friend Carlos, the big kid in the grey hoodie, thought Dillon was Jay Mascis and said "Yo dude, I really love your music." Funny moment. Also, that's Kurt Fedora from the Northampton band Gobblehoof looking thru the window 0:37. He played w/ Mascis on the Reality Bites OST track "Turnip Farm." Consider this a tidbit of Western Massachusetts alt music history.

  • good song

  • It's Uncle Eddie from Grounded For Life!

  • Is that the guy from "Grounded for Life"?

  • Watch out kids, it's a teenage trap! One moment you're listening this song on YouTube, the next you find yourself in on a festival in your 30's, stoned out of your mind, with no degree and no job! It's awesome!

  • @sjogro

I'm in my 30s, still trying to be a child.

  • @sjogro damn dude. you sound like my conscience. fuck!

  • @sjogro degree = debt anyways!........ unless your lucky and your parents pay!

  • It's almost country. BUt it's J, so it's genius.

  • @drocmusicman

It's kinda like Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, only smothered in electric fuzz..

  • UNCLE EDDY! 1:12

  • Um Ok I agree with what your saying about how music is music and we should just enjoy, but Jr is not grunge. Hopefully now that your 13 since your comment was made 2 years ago you have learned that.

  • @airtrecksora333 you completely contradicted yourself. either you enjoy music for what it is, or you argue over the stupid territorial labeling of it. choose.

  • @needlearmor I myself kind of like doing both: enjoying music as it is and yet thinking about what it is, what it expresses, where it draws its influence and so on. The two attitudes are not contradictory ; I do it by not putting it on a pedestal.

  • tired of radio mainstream if i had a radio station i would put all kinds of alternative on: dinosaur jr, lemonheads, etc.......

  • The hat! :D

  • the seminal dinosaur song. A crackling voice over subdued guitar erupting with unbelievable power chords in the first 30 seconds and then melodic transitions with the question: "you're not going to get me through this are you?" So vulnerable, I've felt it many times. F**king great.

  • just like in 91.....YAWN

  • dinosaur jr are so damn awesome that they dont even need a fucking genre!

  • J should sing w/ chicks more often. the male & female voices complement each other. and besides, singing together is like the dude & chick of this video trying to say the same thing to each other to be together.

  • Lol this video was uploaded on my birthday.

  • BP can stick its adds up its ass

  • One person's music taste is in his/hers ass.

  • The first song I heard by Dinosaur Jr a year ago. Didn't like it at first, probably because it was kind of country. Eventually liked it after three months and it's quite unique and beautiful at this day and age. never heard any soloing done like that in this kind of style.

  • Keep making music J, you got some gift!

  • Emo is a subgenre of hardcore punk that has nothing to do with stupid haircuts, crying and suicide. Try Rites of Spring, if you want to know what emo is all about. Btw, it´s short for emotive, not emotional. Goth is rubbish. Metal pretty much sucks, in my opinion. I don´t like too much metal bands. My favorite (metal) band is Metallica, and I love it, though. One of the best bands ever.

Grunge is a combination of punk rock, metal, alternative rock, hard rock, etc..It´s great. But I chose punk.

  • @villadavid4ever damn, I accidentaly clicked on the "back" button :(

  • @villadavid4ever Grunge never existed. It was just to label bands who lived in Seattle. Does Nirvana sound like Soundgarden? Does Pearl Jam sound like Alice In Chains? Does Local H sound like Mudhoney? No No No.

  • @MrShotgunJesus But Nirvana, Mudhoney and Pearl Jam certainly have cross overs. What the fuck are you talking about? that is like saying, "Rappers all sound different, they just call them rappers because they live in the same area". hahaha pft.

  • @MrShotgunJesus Yeah, in a lot of ways they did. Grunge wasn't necessarily a sound strictly from Seattle. It was any number of bands from all over who had the same influences and similar sound. Lester Bangs was using the term "grunge" in regards to music as far back as the late 60's, so I can agree that it was named by music critics. But the scene named itself as well.

  • Dinosaur Jr.=WIN.

  • Lazy voice...so sexy.......

  • Is that the grounded for life guy?

  • @ridethehogie

Yes it is. The wife on that show was hot!

  • @InterspeciesErotica7 shit yeah she was

  • stop arguing and bitching bout gunge, and learn ... GRUNGE ISN`T A MUSIC STYLE

  • It's probably because of the video bu this song always reminds me of Autumn.

  • "Where you've been" is by far their best. IMO. Start Choppin' , this song, and Not the Same (gorgeous) are my favs but the whole record has not one bad song and I can only say that of a few CDs by anyone ..

  • ... one of my all time Dinosaur favourites! I would play the song exactly the same - note by note

  • "You're not gonna get me through this, are you?"

    :-) This song relaxes me.

  • <3 Dinosaur Jr Rulz!!

  • I speak engrish, have crazy opinion, Dinosaur has horribel, very good record. Open the window and give me beer. I like very much. Have something crazy with my brain?

    Internauts, P-LEASE!

  • @facagravata lol that pills may have been too much for ur brain...XD

  • Comment removed

  • Best bands of the 90's in no particular order: Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, Pavement, Alice in Chains and Rage Against The Machine

  • dinosaur jr es una banda genial, ¿que hubiera sido del rock alternativo sin ellos?

  • @cpHiJet simple y pura mierda... como lo es ahora desgraciadamente...

  • thanx!!!!:-)

  • You're not gonna get me through this are you...?

  • man I hate the 21st century... today I pretended that it was 1998... it actually kinda worked...

  • @CommanderC00L558

Yeah, kids these days have shitty taste in music. Now it's all crappy fashion and reheated bullshit served to the mindless.

  • @24HourProductions And doing drugs definitely helps. (sarcasm)

  • @CommanderC00L558

    I do drugs... :(

Thanks for making me feel inadequate.

  • @24HourProductions I just don't understand the necessity of drugs! Why do we need them? Heck, your a skater. So am I. How about we ignore the latter?

  • @CommanderC00L558

Well, I recently had a bad car accident. Can't skate anymore. I still film the friends when I can. But, I just smoke pot for my back pain and ptsd. Helps a lot.

  • @24HourProductions Yikes. I really feel sorry for you bro, skating is my way of taking the edge off. Ah, so your LEGALLY smoking... Well, I guess that's okay. I mean if its what you like.

  • @24HourProductions Actually did you see Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, Mc Hammer, Marky Mark and other? 90's had also crappy fashion and reheated bullshit. There's no fucking best year of music. Nowadays there's so much fucking good music around us - can't you see it?

  • cause this song rocks, just got amazing vibes ...ur not gonna get me thru this are u?

  • Great hypnotic stream of consciousness lyrics and then GREAT Guitar you just can't get enough of. .. NOT GONNA GET ME THRU THIS R U ?

Song has it all .. like Sister Havana by Urge Overkill.

  • LINDO

  • this isnt the full video!!! my favorite part of the guitar solo was cut out.

the bit where it goes ..'dee dee deee dee dee dee dee doo doo'

  • @googoplexable Oh, I know! This is my favorite guitar solo of all time. A travesty that it was cut short.

  • more people should start watching!

  • what the hell? the newest comment is 1 years old... lol

  • love that album T-T , thaks for posting & i have the cassette lol

  • yes,the full album is very very great for me

i didn't know how many times i listened when

    i bought it.

    fffffffffffffffffffffffffkissies

  • btw i always listen that album too while i ride my mountain bike with my jurassic walkman lol

thak u for the kisses and have a nice day too

  • what an amazing song

  • To Mr. TheWorthyApes:

I may be 11 but I know some stuff about the 90's. I wish I could have been there. I'm positive you know more than me about the 90's though.

Also I think you can call this whatever you want. It's not neccesarily alt. rock. it has a grunge sound, alt. rock sound, even a little indie sound. I don't see why all kinds of music has to have a name. To me it's just Music.

  • But isn't calling the band "metal" doing just that? You even named some genres it could fit into.

Nothing wrong with ignoring genres, but if people are talking about genres; they might as well be right. Right?

  • dude, I fee you, I have ALWAYS wanted to live in the nineties... i'm 13 now, but I have always known that by listening to music that is often disregarded as "unpopular", I am lightyears ahead of everyone I know at my age... I feel lonely...

  • @CommanderC00L558 keep your head up kid. i know watcha mean. itl be better when ya get older

  • i know what you meen, im 16 nearly n ive only ever met about 3 people that have heard of dinosaur jr my age, everyone listens to Popular shit.

    dont feel lonely dude ;)

  • age is no barrier to enjoying awesome music. I'd worry more if you live in a place that doesn't get much live music. That's the only real hurdle to finding enjoyment in music, when there's not a live band to jump around to.

  • @hyperswivel , there's the grog shop in cleveland, which is 10 minutes away, (by taking the bus) so yeah, I got it good!

  • @butterknifesuicide right on lil one

  • @butterknifesuicide Bang on mate,. . . all these are just labels we know that music is just music. . . Primal Scream

Its really not that different now 'cept school kids have cell phones not just plumbers and drug dealers. And you dont have to wait for the next album by..... its already there. You dont have to put up with Oasis and all that Brit pop shit. And mp3s iinstead of walkmans. I used to hanker for the 60s and 70s but I'm better now.Free your mind and your ass will follow

  • @butterknifesuicide smoke a big fat joint and drink good cheap wine listen to dinosaur jr. and hawkwind and you will be there - ozric tentacles and the allman brothers and grateful dead also - well thats what i was listennin to in the 90s when i was in my 20s

  • @butterknifesuicide well put

  • @butterknifesuicide - that's right brother, way to go man...I like your style!

  • @butterknifesuicide congrats your the coolest twelve year old in my book of cool twelve year olds.

  • @butterknifesuicide smartest 11 yr old ive ever heard

  • @butterknifesuicide your a fag

  • @butterknifesuicide you're not 11, asshole.

  • Tese guys are good medal baned ever!

  • ok....first metal is spelled "metal"...but that's not important but ....Dino Jr is definetely alternative rock not metal. These guys can be compared to Nirvana, The Pixies, The Meat Puppets...which are all alt rock bands. not metal.

  • Great song and video. But I miss that extended guitar solo from full version.

  • you know despite a lot of people saying it i dont hear the neil young influence

  • it's partiallly in the vocals, also in the easy sort of country influenced "grungy" sounding style...

  • as hypocritical as this sounds, i dont get why people seem 2 waste ther time arguing thru video posts.

  • hahahaha..you're right man!!

  • i love seeing people on youtube complaining about a band, on one of their videos. unless the artist slept with your significant other, there's no need to do such a thing.

  • idk tracksuitjim alice in chains is amazing. stone temple pilots has some really good songs too but yeah AIC is one of my favorite bands. see...i voiced my opinion and i wasnt a hater about it. lol.

  • oh my lord, the amount of absolute pricks that have commented this is ridiculous. bravo for the sonic youth mention as well, love them both.

  • Oh, I didn't know 'Grunge' has already existed back in 1984. Get your stats right. Most of the so called 'Grunge' bands were influenced by bands like Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, etc.. Eventhough I am not in the position to put lables to bands, I would clrearly call it 'alternativ rock'. Dinosaur Jr. will be in our hearts forever.

  • amen to that

  • Grunge doesn't exist. Nirvana and Mudhoney are punk, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains are metal, Pearl Jam is classic rock. It's a nonsensical genre. Dinosaur was before any of them so eat shit.

  • Boganator get your facts right before you go and slag a band off.

  • you should really try and change your own because a vast amount of what you list as bands you like are seriously horrible. like c'mon man Bush?

  • i don't like Bush? This band has horrible. Nirvana,Alice in Chains,Stone Temple Pilots,Radiohead,Collective Soul,Pinkfloyd, led Zeppelin. Are all great bands and if you don't like them. Then theres seriously something with your brain?

  • right after green day in your music thing on your profile says: bush. and dude alice in chains have some good songs, same with stp, collective soul but other than that they aren't amazing.

  • Collective Soul fucking sucks balls.

  • @honestpanda did this guy jus say collective soul is better than DINO??? now ive truly lost hope in humanity.

  • @honestpanda Dinosaur Jr is way better than all those bands. I like Nirvana and Radiohead, but they have nothing on Dinosaur.

  • @honestpanda Seconded! I like or at least liked all the other bands Boganator mentioned (and the inclusion of Zep and Floyd makes me think that we're exactly the same age--16 in 1991), but fucking Collective Soul? That's gotta be a joke. Terrible, terrible stuff.

  • @honestpanda most post grunge does

  • @honestpanda

    Amen.

  • Collective Soul? LOLZ!

  • @Boganator4 - you're an idiot.

  • @Boganator4 yea those bands are good. but you need to get off the stream and into some more advanced shit.

  • @babblerabla. I'm listening to such more advanced bands now. That was a year ago.

  • @Boganator4 more advanced?are you levelling up, noob tools,go listen to britney

  • @superjelly88. Indeed I am leveling up away from all these un-optimistic bands that infest the 20-century. This band isn't one of them, but I still don't listen to them. Not my type of music.

By the way I'm level 231, what level are you? lol

  • Yeah but your opinion is based on facts that you don't have straight. Dinosaur Jr is and never was a grunge band, mainly because grunge does not exist. Their first album was in 1985, back when you were just a tickle in your dad's sack. Listen to their second album You're Living All Over Me and tell me they suck. That albums is perfect, down to the awesome Peter Frampton cover.

  • I think that you are in a sense, correct. "grunge" was a term created by a journalist in the 90's in an attempt to find genre to lump bands from Seattle/ Washington who had a unique sound that had developed there. But the fact is, Dino Jr sounds like them...you know? Do you like The Meat Puppets man? BTW I am old, not one of these 12 year olds. I actually remember the 90's.

  • @honestpanda they were forerunners of what was called grunge/alt of the early 90's, though I detested that moniker as well...

  • @clarkbailey1973 \

now your downplaying pixies. IMO the 4 forerunning bands in the 20th century were

Bob Dylan Talking Heads and pixies.

  • @Boganator4 I don't see grunge as a genre. I see it more as an attitude.

Though this band is definitely not "grunge" or trying to be "grunge",They are simply alt rock.

  • Maybe you are a better guitar player. But you and your ignorance will never be able to create such beautiful songs like Mr. Mascis. I don't even comment on your second part in your sentence. Damn, how I hate kiddies on the web.

  • ...and you forgot to mention moron. the most obvious character trait that you've displayed for us in your comment is how big a moron you are. don't forget that in your resume next time. if i was you i'd start every post with: i'm a huge moron and this is what i think....

  • you're just jealous

  • @joecordellolicksdick no...no you are not better at guitar then J.

  • @joecordellolicksdick This is the perfect forum to prove your statements.

    We're waiting

  • Lol, 15 years ago this clip leads me back !

    thanks for web diffusion.

  • Wow

  • i loved this song, they're so naive and plain. you can't dislike their rock, critics may tell "genuine"

  • i love this song.

  • when it takes to long, i loose it

i'll just hang while you abuse it

if you knew then why'd you choose it?

    cause it's on and on

  • the dinosaur jr guitar sound is great on this album, sounds like 'never met a girl like you before' edwyn collins solo, maybe it's the same guitar setup, i dont know

  • that was a gretsch anniversary, not a gibson

  • This is true, and he plays gibson's loads too.

  • yeah dude right before that great solo at the end hahahaha

    goooooood song

  • Thats the only time I have EVER seen a gibson in his hands!

NIce vid, great song, but they all are!

  • saw them in the 90's in North Hampton Mass. ahhh...memories.

  • is that the uncle from ground for life?

  • hahahah good eye. friggen eddie

  • the guitar on any new stuff doesn't have the same tone as this album... maybe it's the engineering, but i think it sounds waaay better on this cd.

  • Great lyric. Great song!

  • love this song,great band ! this song means alot 2 me : )

  • likewise.

  • Wow, J Mascis could so effortlessly write a great hook.

  • thank u honest panda. Love this album, minus some of guitar solos!

  • they didnt play the whole song! the second guitar solo is so badass. they left out the best part

  • Beauty

  • amazing

  • i miss the 90's best view of them in this video

  • i like how the video version cuts out like 3 minuets of his solo

  • who's the girl who sings the backup vocals?

  • tiffany anders, allison anders daughter. she and j were in gas food lodging together which was directed by allison.

  • Tiffany Anders (whoa, I pulled that off the top of my head...I know way to much about this band...lol!)

  • beautiful song x

  • Don't be silly, dinosaur jr. has been recording albums for over 20 years. Saying he's "the neil young of the 2000(sic)" totally downplays his long history.

    Son!

  • quite incorrect. J Mascis is the J Mascis of the past two and a half decades

  • is that eddie from grounded for life

  • that has to be kevin corrigan

  • ..from Henry Fool.

  • God love this song, never seen this video before

lol back in the days before J was grey :)

  • love

  • Best outro solo......'cept for Bury Me of Gish

  • at 1:57 J smiles

  • can any one tell me if the guy in the house is Kevin Corrigan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Wow, J Mascis could so effortlessly write a great hook.
