@perry244 You missed the point here. Its the fun in building it yourself if you want to be lazy and buy what there is out there power to ya but don't knock it if your not going to try it .
Great little amp gives me ideas on how to fix my parents up so they can hear their tv better. Keep building and having fun.
Wow. man you have inspired me to start my own build. do you mind sharing what parts you used, or any tips and tricks you have. it would be a great help and honor.
i want to build a mono amplifier for this home subwoofer i found, just as a little project, ive never done any electronics in my life apart from a level physics, how hard will it be?? :S

Interesting project, I'm crazy about building small amps myself, in a few days I'm going to start building one that's should put out 20-30 watts, stereo, and all discrete compnents, no IC's.
@NalleDanne I've read though a lot of books and found schematics for amplifiers on the web. I started with trying to build small ones (about 0.5 watt) and work my way up from there. The circuit for this one I'm going to build is based on one I saw here on YouTube, but I'm going to make some improvements, I would show a link to that video, but the account closed. If you look at my videos I have a few small amps I built, and other projects. Building one form a kit is a good way to start.
@CoolDudeClem thanks for the answer! I've watched allot of your videos and I'm finding them very interesting! But it would be awesome if you could make a full demonstration when you build the 20-30 watts stereo amp, kinda like this: *start the camera* talk about the project,*show the scheme* *stop the camera* build, solder *start camera* talk about what you just did and so on! that would help me allot to understand what is what. This is maybe too much to ask, but since you make good videos you..
do you know if there is a fan that i could sit on top of my integrated amp that i could just plugin an outlet? do you think that would work to keep it cool so it doesnt shut off? or do you have a better idea,(besides turn it down(

To build amplifier nowadays is just a waste of money. U can get a better fully functional and higher fidelity with the money needed to actually build one urself.
@dodoshlodo Agree, but i was just pointing out something that I know. I build amplifiers myself and it was fun... Building a high performance amplifier with high wattage and crystal clear cost more than actually buying, that is all I was saying, but of course building one yourself is a good experience and helps someone understand how it works... Peace
@ Djluv5 BUt morons don't know, when you have amp from factory, you don't know, what component developer usiing(possible ugly cheap parts). Home made version is in your choice...
@ Djluv5 you can be suprised. manually, but there are quite incompetent individuals who are not even able to build a kit that requires no knowledge. Then he envies skilled and praise just bought shit ...
@Djluv5 Also depends what you need. If you're after a very high performance amplifier it can certainly be cheaper to build yourself. I built a stereo Symasym 5.3 amplifier for the cost of a very average integrated amplifier when the performance of my DIY amplifier is comparable to extreme high end gear. I've also built special application amplifiers like a very compact one for my PC sound which arn't available elsewhere. I wouldn't however try to build something like a 5.1 reciever!
Great Job! From reading the comments it seems you are building another. I just got through moving an amp from a breadboard to protoboard; works like a charm. 550W RMS (bridged 84Vpp [30Vrms] into a 2ohm load with two 4 ohms on each channel). This was built from discrete components (no audio ICs) and my own design. It really is very easy to do if you don't mind blowing MOSFETs and smoking resistors as part of the learning process :). I agree that the final project is very rewarding.
Theres nothing like building something useful from scratch and it works!
Unfortunately I built this for a mates Bday, so i dont have it. It was pretty hard handing it over in the end!
I have a pro amp prject on the go. Its a class A 50W stereo amp installed in an XBox shell with remote volume control and cool flashing LEDs and neons that beat to the music. It will look like an XBOX/JUKEBOX type thing.

only 13,5W?! you should try a better one like TDA1552 or TDA8560 or if you want mono then TDA1518
and yeah I made my amp cheaper than yours but better than yours!

Mate!------------great project-------BUT-your Voltage Regulator needs a BIGGER heat sink.
If it has any Voltage Drop-it creates-Heat?
13 watts?-------------RMS or Music Power?
For "quick "bursts-no worries----BUT-for sustained use at high levels--- MELTDOWN!
Try it!-------------check the Power Supply , Voltage Regulators for---------Heat.
Sounds good to me.

no.. the 9V battery was used to light the LED VU meter. I later converted this so that it ran off 1 power source.

there are 2 songs layered over the video by "Emancipator".
its just one guy and his debut album is called "Soon it will be Cold Enough to Build Fires"..
its a great album, I highly reccomend it, too many good songs on there to remember.
The first track is: "Wolf Drawn"
At 4.24 : "First Snow"
