  • I want to build a valve/tube amp, that would be sweet!

  • wast of money and still cant even [power that speaker, notice how it doesn't flexx at all.... lmfao

  • @perry244 You missed the point here. Its the fun in building it yourself if you want to be lazy and buy what there is out there power to ya but don't knock it if your not going to try it .

Great little amp gives me ideas on how to fix my parents up so they can hear their tv better. Keep building and having fun.

  • dude ya i wanna build my own. for like under 50 bucks y wouldnt u want to. thnx for the vid man

  • Wow. man you have inspired me to start my own build. do you mind sharing what parts you used, or any tips and tricks you have. it would be a great help and honor.

  • where you get the plastic box?

  • thumbs up for science and emancipator

  • thats really nice bro ...good job ,where did you buy all the stuff you need and how long does it take you to complete it?

  • thats really nice bro ...good job

  • Nice video, But I have one Question... Where did you get that housing?

  • i want to build a mono amplifier for this home subwoofer i found, just as a little project, ive never done any electronics in my life apart from a level physics, how hard will it be?? :S

  • No caps ?

    good vid.

  • What's the music at the start called ?

  • What's the music at the start called ?

  • only 13,5W?! you should try a better one like TDA1552 or TDA8560 or if you want mono then TDA1518

and yeah I made my amp cheaper than yours but better than yours!

  • Hi, there. Nice amp. Did you follow any scheme I can find here on the net? If you did, would you mind to tell me where I can find it? Thanks.

  • Interesting project, I'm crazy about building small amps myself, in a few days I'm going to start building one that's should put out 20-30 watts, stereo, and all discrete compnents, no IC's.

  • @CoolDudeClem hey, im quite interested myself but where can i learn how to? How did you start? :)

  • @NalleDanne I've read though a lot of books and found schematics for amplifiers on the web. I started with trying to build small ones (about 0.5 watt) and work my way up from there. The circuit for this one I'm going to build is based on one I saw here on YouTube, but I'm going to make some improvements, I would show a link to that video, but the account closed. If you look at my videos I have a few small amps I built, and other projects. Building one form a kit is a good way to start.

  • @CoolDudeClem thanks for the answer! I've watched allot of your videos and I'm finding them very interesting! But it would be awesome if you could make a full demonstration when you build the 20-30 watts stereo amp, kinda like this: *start the camera* talk about the project,*show the scheme* *stop the camera* build, solder *start camera* talk about what you just did and so on! that would help me allot to understand what is what. This is maybe too much to ask, but since you make good videos you..

  • @CoolDudeClem might could give it a try? :)

  • What is the first song and who is it by?

  • can u give more details

  • Mate!------------great project-------BUT-your Voltage Regulator needs a BIGGER heat sink.

If it has any Voltage Drop-it creates-Heat?

    13 watts?-------------RMS or Music Power?

For "quick "bursts-no worries----BUT-for sustained use at high levels--- MELTDOWN!

Try it!-------------check the Power Supply , Voltage Regulators for---------Heat.

    Sounds good to me.

    Steve -Hobart,Tasmania.

  • @HobieTyourtube

    Thanx steve. the voltage regulator is for the VU meter so the heatsink's fine :}

  • u people r stupid if u make this. it is alot cheaper to get a nice amp

  • do you know if there is a fan that i could sit on top of my integrated amp that i could just plugin an outlet? do you think that would work to keep it cool so it doesnt shut off? or do you have a better idea,(besides turn it down(

  • whats that song name

  • cool ))

  • ye dude but isnt it an honor to build one? i mean you will feel pro and thats the only feeling you need :)

  • yeah might be... and mainly when u design ur own circuit and uses transistors or vacuum tubes rather than IC's.. :)

  • and if you vant to customize it and make it water resistant

  • True

  • but that takes all the fun out of it

  • @Djluv5 the whole point is to build it yourself though. It was a fun project and i learned a lot

  • @dodoshlodo Agree, but i was just pointing out something that I know. I build amplifiers myself and it was fun... Building a high performance amplifier with high wattage and crystal clear cost more than actually buying, that is all I was saying, but of course building one yourself is a good experience and helps someone understand how it works... Peace

  • @dodoshlodo yeah, that for fun, but rly, waste of money.. xD

  • @Djluv5 Thats the american way. Why do something yourself when you can just pay someone else to do it for you!

  • @ Djluv5 BUt morons don't know, when you have amp from factory, you don't know, what component developer usiing(possible ugly cheap parts). Home made version is in your choice...

  • @Gangster88232 Because stupid cunts are not involved in electronics engineering...

  • @ Djluv5 you can be suprised. manually, but there are quite incompetent individuals who are not even able to build a kit that requires no knowledge. Then he envies skilled and praise just bought shit ...

  • @Gangster88232 or he already have the skills and build a lot to actually know wat its worth......

  • @Djluv5 WRONG! dead WRONG!

  • @Djluv5 Also depends what you need. If you're after a very high performance amplifier it can certainly be cheaper to build yourself. I built a stereo Symasym 5.3 amplifier for the cost of a very average integrated amplifier when the performance of my DIY amplifier is comparable to extreme high end gear. I've also built special application amplifiers like a very compact one for my PC sound which arn't available elsewhere. I wouldn't however try to build something like a 5.1 reciever!

  • @Djluv5 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID !

  • Yeah PLEASE post a schematic i dont mind if its still 13.5 watts

  • can you post a link to the shcematic off the amp, and how to make it 2.1 for a sub

  • song?

  • @MartyHITD

check out Emancipator's album "Soon it will be cold enough to build fires"

quality production..i use several of his songs in this

  • @dodoshlodo thanks not normally my style, im more metal but i like some other genres and this kinda just clicked. I just like the secert the song has

  • Emancipator is such a great ug hip hop artist

  • @dodoshlodo the end sounds like common/fort minor hybrid? total mindfuck....what was the song name haha!

actually everything you played was awesome you should give me a list of everything you played haha

  • that sounds like it's clipping a bit on some of the louder segments

  • Yeah, it is clipping.

  • Hey Dodo,

    Thats nice work.

You should sell your work, or I mean take custom orders.

    Youre a real pro!

    Eddie

  • Whats the Name/Artists of the songs from the beginning to 1:40, @ 3:14 to 4:15, and the one that plays to the end of the video?

  • good tunes hey..

his name is "emancipator"... check out his album "soon it will cold enough to build fires"

    cheers

  • Did you use that tiny 9 volt battery as power source?

  • no.. the 9V battery was used to light the LED VU meter. I later converted this so that it ran off 1 power source.

    The amp runs on 12V

  • add an equalizer..ur project will be good

  • im very impressed, what board or schematic did you use for the lights on the front :)

You have inspired me to build an amp :D

    Well done ^^

  • Great Job! From reading the comments it seems you are building another. I just got through moving an amp from a breadboard to protoboard; works like a charm. 550W RMS (bridged 84Vpp [30Vrms] into a 2ohm load with two 4 ohms on each channel). This was built from discrete components (no audio ICs) and my own design. It really is very easy to do if you don't mind blowing MOSFETs and smoking resistors as part of the learning process :). I agree that the final project is very rewarding.

  • Do you have a site with more detailed instructions for us beginners?

  • nice tunes

  • cheers

  • cheers Eddie

Theres nothing like building something useful from scratch and it works!

Unfortunately I built this for a mates Bday, so i dont have it. It was pretty hard handing it over in the end!

I have a pro amp prject on the go. Its a class A 50W stereo amp installed in an XBox shell with remote volume control and cool flashing LEDs and neons that beat to the music. It will look like an XBOX/JUKEBOX type thing.

I'll post it when its done!

  • cool, im thinking about saving some money to build a stereo 50 watt amp too! id like too see how it turns out

  • Look at the big brain on DoDo!!

You are kickin ass and takin numbers!

    Great job man.

    Feels good huh?

    Eddie

  • what song is that

  • there are 2 songs layered over the video by "Emancipator".

its just one guy and his debut album is called "Soon it will be Cold Enough to Build Fires"..

its a great album, I highly reccomend it, too many good songs on there to remember.

The first track is: "Wolf Drawn"

    At 4.24 : "First Snow"

  • wow nice job, wouldnt that pan get annoying with it buzzing all the time? If you had the music on a low level, wouldnt you hear it?

  • its not very noisy.. although i always have it blaring!

with the lid on its pretty good.

I built this for a mate for his birthday... sometimes i wish id kept it...

  • also the fan keeps the IC cool and i can run it louder and clearer witout damaging the chip

  • To me, there is nothing like building it and flipping the switch and it works!! Nice job.
