I'd like to see you use your simple technique on my cat, who has claws and likes to use them when there's anything more than a small bowl of drinking water nearby. You just have a nice cat.
Maybe if cats by nature were meant to be washed they wouldn't react so badly to it. Last I checked my cat had no evolutionary capacity or need for producing soapy warm water in a nature. The same way I never make sure my dog brushes his teeth.
if that were my cat you'd be dead or at least mortaly wounded not to mention all the splashing and screaming and growling how does your cat do it

It's the cat, not the technique. I've known several that would have scratched/bitten if you tried to lower than into water like that.
Surest method I've seen is putting the cat in a sink/tub first, then slowly raising the water up stomach high.
